Following is a list of the features found on the 1966 and 1967 High Country Specials (HCS). The differences between these and standard 66-67 Mustangs are fairly subtle, especially when compared to the later 1968 HCS and GT/CS. With the exception of the items in this list, the 66-67 HCS used the same parts as standard 66-67 Mustangs. They could be ordered with any engine, transmission, option, or body style. (unlike the 1968 HCS & GT/CS which were only available as coupes)

PAINT COLORS

Columbine Blue

Timberline Green
1966 & 1967 HCS's only came in three colors: Columbine Blue, Aspen Gold and Timberline Green.
FENDER EMBLEMS

These brass "sheild" shaped emblems (or badges) were posistioned on the front fenders, near the standard running horse emblem. They were supplied by a Denver company and installed at the dealerships. Similar to the 1968 HCS side scoop decal, both the 1966 & 1967 emblems show a running horse in front of a mountain background with the words, "High Country Special." The 1967 emblem also says, " '67 " while the 1966 emblem does not indicate the year.

I apologize for the poor quality of these photos. If anyone has cleaner shots of either emblem please email me.
