Mosesatm 08/14/2006, 06:53 PM Cute, but just does`nt look safe. Doesn't look safe for the kid or the dog? Mustanglvr 08/14/2006, 07:02 PM Doesn't look safe for the kid or the dog?  Gosh you`re funny Arlie. :icon_bore  Mosesatm 08/14/2006, 07:10 PM Thank you! Diesel Donna 08/15/2006, 08:37 PM Oh my gosh, How cute! That dog owns that baby now. I bet Nani and Beagle Juice are jealous. Mosesatm 08/16/2006, 01:39 AM Nope, Nani isn't jealous at all since the kid and dog in the photos are not mine. In fact, I don't even know whose loved ones they are. My assumption is that pictures show a standard game that the 2 participants play. I can't imagine a parent allowing a dog that large to walk all over a baby without knowing that there would be no damage to either. Mustanglvr 08/16/2006, 06:19 AM You can never predict what could happen. The dog could kill that baby with one bite or lay on it and break many bones. Imagine what could happen if the parents only turned their attention away for a minute. The dog could play with that baby again and it would be a deadly situation. Social Services should pay a visit to that family. Just my opinion. Midnight Special 08/16/2006, 07:54 AM You can never predict what could happen. The dog could kill that baby with one bite or lay on it and break many bones. Imagine what could happen if the parents only turned their attention away for a minute. Mustanglvr 08/16/2006, 11:24 AM I hope neither of you have children and if you do remember the old saying "Stupid people should`nt breed!" Mosesatm 08/16/2006, 01:03 PM Ouch, ouch, ouch! Damn, I just snorted Mt. Dew out my nose and all over my desk when I read that! Wow, that hurt......but it was totally worth it. Diesel Donna 08/16/2006, 01:18 PM I hope neither of you have children and if you do remember the old saying "Stupid people should`nt breed!" You talkin' to me? Midnight Special 08/16/2006, 03:21 PM ...Pretty nasty wildland fire going nearby right now... Almost as big as the one Rhonda just started ;-) ;-) ;-) Mustanglvr 08/16/2006, 03:42 PM No Donna, only people who would put there children in danger like that. Its like parents who don`t put their kids in carseats or even a seatbelt and then the kid ends up dead and they wonder what the HELL? I mean DUHHHH!!! Remember, this is only my opinion and as you all know I have strong opinions and I`m not afraid to express them. It`s the way I am, take it or leave it. I am NOT trying to change anyone`s mind on the subject nor am I forcing you to agree with me. Time to cool 'er down ;-) Mosesatm 08/16/2006, 06:39 PM You talkin' to me? Cool, I can even hear the De Niro accent!!!! nfrntau 08/16/2006, 06:55 PM Wow!! Breath in ........ Breath out ...... Breath in ........ Breath out ...... Breath in ........ Breath out ...... O.K. much better Just because the dog is big, really big doesn't mean he's not a gentle giant. Maybe he was raised around 15 litters of kittens and nurtured everyone of them like they were his, constantly playing with and laying in the middle of them without ever even remotely hurting one of them. It is impossible to know the time frame between photos. The snake has been handled by people since he was knee high to a grasshopper (literally) The kid has been around the snake since he was born (no fear to alarm the snake) and the snake just ate 13 gophers and is ready for a nap after his bath. Truth or fiction?? 20% of the children in the world still don't wear seatbelts because the laws in their country don't require them too and their parents think just like our parents did 20 years ago. Were our parents stupid?, mine weren't then and aren't now. I can remember standing up in the back seat of the station wagon driving down the highway. My point is you don't know all the facts nor do we. Being ignorant or uninformed is not the same as being stupid. And when it comes to all these photos we are all uninformed. Stupid, dangerous. Maybe, but I don't think so. Midnight Special 08/16/2006, 07:14 PM ...Ooh... 'Still some sparks! 'Better hit it again ;-) nfrntau 08/16/2006, 07:16 PM I had to add this one too Midnight Special 08/16/2006, 07:21 PM ...Woah!! I don't want to be anywhere near a computer when Rhonda gets home! Too intense! I'm outa' here!!!! ;-) P.S. We love you Rhonda - Really! :-) Diesel Donna 08/16/2006, 07:37 PM <--------What nfrntau said. As well as hot weather, noise, unpredictable behaviour and other factors can cause a usually friendly animal to bite." I have found this to be true with most humans also. Mosesatm 08/17/2006, 06:04 AM Yes Rhonda, I agree that someone should not leave a baby with a dog that is basically a pit bull. In fact, most people probably agree that babies and pit bulls do not mix. People need to understand how dogs behave in general, how certain breeds behave, and how their particular dogs behave. Every dog is different. I won't leave Nani alone with our friend's 4 year old daughter even though I'm 95% sure that Nani won't bite her. But I won't be 100% sure until I watch them interact a little more. I want to have a better handle on how Nani will react if the girl pulls her tail or pokes her in the eye, or if she gets into a staring contest. Most kids get bit because they stick their face in the dog's face. The dog views that as an aggressive move, as a challenge, so they respond in kind. Do you really think the people who took the pictures of the baby and the dog just stuck the baby on the blanket, called out the dog, and sat back with a camera to see what would happen?!!! I don't think so. My "half full" impression of the scene is that the parents knew exactly what would happen because the baby and the dog have played this game before. Mustanglvr 08/17/2006, 07:04 AM For one Arlie, the baby looks to me to be around 2 to 3 months old. So based on that fact, I don`t think they`ve been friends very long. Two, the dog looks to be at least 100 lbs. When you were 100 lbs. Do you think you could have stepped on a baby and not broke any bones? The dog in the picture could step or lay on that baby and do damage before any adult could get there to prevent it, even only a few feet away. It could happen, just that quick. Three, if they allow that dog (any dog) to think of the baby as a plaything, it could get to the baby and kill it (even just playing) when the parents have innocently only turned their attention away for a minute. Dogs are smart for dogs, but their not human. All that dog knows is how happy the Masters were when they let it roll around with the baby. Next time it wants to play, it will most likely think that it can go get the baby itself and play with it and it will make the Masters happy again. A dog does`nt have to be vicious to be dangerous, especially medium to large breed dogs. I love dogs and have had dogs all my life. I think its a travesty that people would set their dog and baby up for such a tragedy and then blame the poor dog. It`s the humans that should be put to sleep for being SO STUPID!!!!!!!!! rvrtrash 08/17/2006, 03:52 PM ...Ooh... 'Still some sparks! 'No offense to our "Mustanglvr". She gets so passionate... but I think we finally got a line around this one. hookedtrout 08/18/2006, 04:44 AM ...Ooh... 'Still some sparks! Midnight Special 08/25/2006, 11:44 AM Better send that thing out here to Idaho Tim, were burning up again this year. Steve - we had a big wildfire (real close) here during Mike & Robinette's CS gathering last Saturday! As it was in the general direction of the freeway - we were overjoyed thinkin' that maybe RHONDA was on her way!... ;-) P.S. Okaaay... I'll stop now. Mustanglvr 08/25/2006, 09:53 PM I`ve simmered down since my last post on this thread. So don`t get me started. :rollout:  Man, that fire looks close! Midnight Special 08/26/2006, 01:22 AM Man, that fire looks close! ...Yeah, that one was about 40 acres and on the other side of a lake that was about a mile away, so it posed no threat to us. 'Pretty common occurence around here, tho mild compared to previous years. We had one back in 1988 dubbed the "49er Fire" that consumed 60,000 acres, 65 homes and stretched 25 miles. Since then - they throw everything at 'em when they start. The air tanker base at Grass Valley and various strike teams are invaluable assets! As nice as it is to reside here, you can never be too careful... I'm glad you're a good sport Rhonda :-) I think everyone knows you're among the biggest hearted. :-) marie68csmustangs 08/29/2006, 09:48 PM ...Yeah, that one was about 40 acres and on the other side of a lake that was about a mile away, so it posed no threat to us. We actually went down and went close to the flames. I also remember after the fire, I went to a soccer game at a school that was very close to the fire, and having to see all the blackened grass and hillsides - it almost burned up to the school, you could see where the air tankers dropped retardant on the fire - those red blotches on the ground. I could also remember that burnt smell - Like it was yesterday... Then we had five feet of snow - So, there from one extreme to the next... Marie |
