as i wait for my car to return from the paint shop i want to start getting my parts ready to put back on the car. one of my first projects will be the fuel tank. i bought a new tank , sending unit, hardware etc... i haven't had much time yet to go to any shows to look at 68 mustangs to see if the bottom of the tank has the black undercoating on it. i have seen with and without in magazines and books. the tank that is on my car right now is bare metal and i don't know if it's original?
i also want to ask if anybody has any tips for me that might make the job easier.

thanks in advance!

Tom,
Here is a picture of a concourse convertible showing the tank as NOT undercoated. A point here is the car was produced at the Dearborn plant (I think all the plants did the same). My convertible, produced in the Metuchen plant, was also not undercoated. What I can remember from my CS, remember it is at my parents, it too was not undercoated.

thanks for the great picture doug (nice looking underbody). the picture i saw with the undercoating was in mustang monthly (how to replace your sending unit) it must have been sprayed on at one of those rust-proofing shops in the rust belt.

thanks
