Can anyone tell me the part number for a 1968 Mustang rear bumper? It would be the same bumper for all model 1968 Mustangs, correct? For the GT/CS as well?

It is the same bumper for all 1968's. I do not have a part number. Sorry.

WHEW!!! After long hours burning midnight oil, digging through thousands of pages, books and binders stacked six feet high, just for you, HERE is the answer:

C7ZZ-17906-A. Rear Bumper, for '67 and '68 Mustang Only.

--the '65-66 rear bumper is C5ZZ-17906-A --not for the '68 model Mustang.

-- the '69-'70 rear bumper is C9ZZ-17906-A -- not for the '68.

So...don't let any parts dealers (swap meet, EBAY, etc.) try to tell you that anything other than a '67-'68 rear bumper will work.

A Mustang restorer I spoke to in Houston told me that the repro bumpers are different than the original Ford bumpers in that the repros do not have the ridge running down the center top surface of the bumper. I just looked at my original Ford bumper and he's right the top face is not flat. It angles down half way through. My car is in the shop so I can't compare this bumper to the repro I installed.

Does anyone have a repro bumper they can take a look at and see if the top surface has a ridge running through it or if it's flat?

Thanks Paul! I appreciate the trouble you went through for the part #.

And Arlie, that's great information. Maybe someone can post pictures of an original and a repro bumper! Is this information the same for the front bumper as well?

If no one else gets to this before this weekend I will be able to do it and post then.
