Hi,
We have a GT/CS and are having it repainted. We want to get the rear quarter window molding rechromed, but cannot for the life of us figure out how to get the glass out of it. There are two rivets holding a piece that holds the rollers to the frame, which we cannot figure out how to get out and we were able to get two screws out, but are unsure about the rivets. Can anybody help us?? The rest of the car is going to look great, except for these two back windows.

Thanks

Terry Lynn

Here's an article for a '66 but it may work for '68.

Leave the roller channel with the rivets alone. That won't help your cause. Remove the weather strip/water sheild at the front of the window at the body.
Remove the long channel mounted almost vertical by removing the two bolts holding it in.
Next remove the two upper bolts holding the frame behind the window in the car body. You will need to move the window up and down to get access through holes in the frame your removing.
Next remove the regulator by removing the four bolts holding it in. The roller will come out of the channel with the rivets if you take your time and rotate the v-shaped regulator arm.
Next remove the two bottom bolts holding the assebley at the bottom.
Next carefully remove the weather strip from the outside edge.
Next gently remove the window and frame from the car.
Now remove the four screws holding the window frame channel and remove by pulling firmly but gently. The window will come out of the frame the same way. The rubber around the window is one complete piece.

Put it back in in the reverse order.

I recommend marking where the frames were in referrence to the bolts to help realigning when you are going back together
