View Full Version : New to Forum, Looking for CS or HCS
mherman2 04/27/2009, 04:19 PM Hey there, great site. I am looking for a CS or HCS I do not need to put a ton of work into. I would love a 390 4spd or a 68 Cobra Jet 4spd. Does anyone know how many big blocks both 390 and 428's were made of each car? Another car would be a 66 or 67 Convertible HCS. Did any 67's come with a 428 Police Interceptor like the Shelby's?

12 R-codes (3 GT/CS, 9 HCS)
215 S-codes
76 X-codes
mherman2 04/27/2009, 04:57 PM So no 1967 428 HCS with a 428 PI were made?
classicsguy 04/27/2009, 06:07 PM There is an X-code 390ci on e bay now but its an automatic. I have a J-code 3024v 4 Speed GT/CS but its a project and restoration already started Its advertised in the classified section of this forum. Only 218 J-code 4 speed GT/CS were built. Send me a private message if interested.

HicountryBob is your man for that question. He'll show up sooner or later.
All X-code GT/CSs were automatics
Have you seen this post (http://www.californiaspecial.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7398) about Scott selling his J-code?
RedGTvert 04/27/2009, 08:10 PM So no 1967 428 HCS with a 428 PI were made?
There were no production Mustang's in 1967 that had a 428 in it.
JohnnyQuest515 04/28/2009, 02:27 PM I'm guessing out loud but a 428 4 speed would be worth north of 100K?

JohnnyQuest515 04/29/2009, 10:47 AM I agree, that's why I started with my X code!

Here's an X-code in Houston (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RARE-BIG-BLOCK-1968-MUSTANG-CALIFORNIA-SPECIAL-VIDEO_W0QQitemZ220404215023QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_C ars_Trucks?hash=item220404215023&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A10%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1308)
I may be able to look it over for you Friday if you want.
mherman2 04/29/2009, 03:10 PM If you could that would be great. I am 99% buying another car here in CA but if the car in Houston is nice, not tinkered with, well documented and original engine and trans, I would be interested in it as well.

Knowing this dealer I would be surprised if everything you mentioned pans out on this car. Bill and I looked at a Lime Gold Hertz GT/CS she was selling 4 years ago and it had enough issues for me to passed on it. But you never know!
Can you live with a luggage rack on your trunk?
I'll see if I can get down that way on Friday and take a look at it.

I am very curious about this car as well...and what they are actually looking to get for it. It would be a nice match to my other '68 Mustang.

Taking a look at it Friday 2pm.
Gregpet 04/30/2009, 11:17 AM I spoke to the owner (I think her name was Alexis) about a month ago (I didn't see the car in person) and she said that they had $38k in it...I lost interest quick...
JohnnyQuest515 04/30/2009, 11:48 AM I sent an email about the X code a few months ago regarding the a/c and he gave me a wild response and personally put off by it and him. Read his disclaimer at the bottom, you get the drift.
Car is not painted the correct color and no bench seat present and motor is more like a S code. Sure you can change it but he wants way too much money for it.

How did it look?

She never contacted me again with an address. My guess is that she remembered who I am!
classicsguy 05/03/2009, 10:33 AM Update: Car has been bid up to 35k and reserve has been met!!

I find it interesting that the high bid is close to what the seller has into the car. Who makes a bid of $34,999? That is also an interesting number.
My guess is that the the top 2 bidders are the seller and a friend, relative, or employee.
390cs68rcode 05/04/2009, 07:31 AM the reserve could be $34,999
I would also bet this is a shill of some kind and we will probably see it relisted. just a hunch.

My thought as well.

I agree with that too. Been following that car and this is the the 5th time on E bay:
IST TIME:$20,100 ended
2ND TIME:16,600 ended
3RD TIME:17,601 ended
4TH TIME:16,100 ended
And now all of a sudden a bid of $34,999.00?????? Very strange!!

I think that it's all because of our "new" association with SAAC. It's possible but not likley. Doug --- just adding humor.
