...and an example of performance extremes with a little help from this home built steam tractor.

Made entirely from scratch, it puts out a whopping 2.5 horsepower at 70 psi (steam) and lurches along at blistering speeds un-recordable with modern speedometers (blistering only if you allow it to run over your foot). Cornering is timed by the calendar with it's lead-screw steering mechanism at 62-turns stop to stop. All you need is some yard trimmings, a few oil-soaked 2x4s, a match, then just add water! It will also make your favorite tea, espresso as well as provide power for generators, pumps and steam cleaning!

Such fun!!

Got time on your hands Tim? You certainly do have a creative streak. I agree that this moving contraption is dangerously close to the Mach.

...I guess I could do that, but I'm not sure my friends who built the tractor would appreciate "stripes". I might come home to find my Mustangs "externally lubricated" with a large oil can in exchange for the favor.

That's awesome Tim.

If I can get away this summer I plan on going down to Fremont for a visit with my dad, his health isn't all that great. I'm going to have to stop off and say hi on the way past, I think you are along the way somewhere, also if you're free you can come down and we will talk him into taking out one of the Stanley Steamers, I see you like the steam engine stuff. The few rides he has taken me on are certainly interesting, a lot faster than I thought, quite the pain to start up from a cold start however.

WOW Cory. Yes! Please do call if you're ever in the area!

Hey, wasn't there a promotion for the Stanley Steamer that stated they would give you one for free if you could run it at full-throttle for over one minute? And wasn't the Stanley clocked at over 100 mph during trials? Speaking of Fremont, my "old engine" pals also have this little toy that they run at Arden Wood State Park in Fremont every September! It's an 1889 Porter . Indeed, please call...
