I'm in need of a set of trunk rods. The rods I have no longer hold up my lid. Not even barely. Does anyone have an extra pair lying around I could purchase from them?

Does anyone have an extra pair lying around I could purchase from them? franklinair 05/04/2009, 08:20 PM Are these the rods that go across from hinge to hinge? As I recall, there are 3 slots in each hinge for adjusting tension. Are they both adjusted into the slots for the most tension? IF not, they can be moved to the next slot to increase tension to hold up the decklid. CAUTION must be observed. Neil nfrntau 05/05/2009, 08:17 AM Yep, the small diameter rods that extend from one hinge to the other. They were both on max tension and only made it easier to raise the lid. I removed the rods from the car and it looks like one of them has given up the ghost. The spring has sprung so to speak. I think my only option is to get a new one and since they are side specific I'm thinking a pair would be the smart way to go. NWGearhead 05/05/2009, 08:34 AM If you run across more than one pair, I could use a set too. One of mine is broken, which means that the other one is probably spent too. Right now I am using a cut off mop handle to prop open the trunk lid, but I would rather it worked as intended. franklinair 05/05/2009, 11:00 AM I'm checking on some of my sources for the 'torsion rods', but as an alternative take a look @ Mustangs Unlimited latest catalog, page 198. They list a Trunk Lift Kit consisting of a Gas Shock like the one's used on modern cars. Just a thought. Neil franklinair 05/05/2009, 01:09 PM I found 2 sets, used. $20 per set + shipping. PM me with your addresses, and I'll ship as soon as I get them. Neil |
