While working on my GT/CS I really like the look of the Green Hornet and Little Red. Shelby's new Black Hornet really got me going.

I have decided to do my own version of the Black Hornet:

*Purchase 1968 Mustang Coupe small block
*Install Shelby Front end with Lucas fog lights amber lens
*1968 Shelby hood
*Proper side scoops
*Shelby 10 spoke wheels with black out treatment
*289 Hi/Po with Cobra Dress up kit ( crate motor )
*Shelby rear fiberglass tail with sequential light kit (LED)
*Raven black exterior color
*Padded vinyl top
*5 speed Tremec TKO or AOD with shift kit
*Upgraded Shelby interior with wood grain dash, Shelby lower gauges
*Power disc brakes, a/c, Power steering
*Shelby lettering, emblems all other removed
*Call it EXP GT350 CSS

What you guys think ?

Thanks, Randy

**I have put a pic of the Black Hornet for reference in my gallery**

Hey Randy go for it!
As you might or might not be aware i'm part way through my Green Hornet project. I've got a thread going that you could follow.
Keep me abreast of your progress and perhaps we could help each other out.

Cheers!
Stan

Outstanding. What a cool idea. And BLACK - my favorite, first choice. (I once had a '68 coupe - black & black, A/T, P/S, PDB, A/C, S/S wheels. I'll never forgive myself for selling that car!!)
Just remember, Randy; photos, photos, photos as you progress. I'm envious.

Neil

PS
I'll have the trunklid torsion rods this week, and UPS them to you.

Randy,
WAY COOL. Go for it!! Saw some pics of a GT/CS with a 68 Shelby nose and hood. I think that Lee Gray should have went that extra step!! I love that hood. would have one on my car if it would have fit over the blower and air cleaner.

I just priced the fiberglass alone $2000!

I just found an old thread regarding dealer installed options and some dealers put on Shelby Fiberglass hoods, fronts and rear spoilers on 67' & 68.

Very interesting...

I recommend you go with a 5 or 6 speed manual or a 4 speed auto. You'll find your freeway cruising a lot nicer.

Yeah, Tremec TKO or AOD is the way to go.

Thanks, Randy

I have a Performance Automatic Transmission Center AOD Dominator in mine. 3.70 gears gets 2,700 RPM at 80 miles and hour.
