We've had a bit of rain here in Minnesota lately and my car cover does'nt seem to be keeping my car dry. I only paid 20.00 for it a few years ago. Are they supposed to just protect the car from the sun? Or are they supposed to keep the moisture off the car too?

Even the more expencive ones do not keep them 100 % dry. NPD has one called Noah that is pretty good for around $160

...Indeed, if you're storing outside, you should use a soft, quality car cover backed up with a large sturdy tarp. When it's not raining - lift the tarp and crack the windows for breathing in a way to keep the sun out, but to not trap the moisture inside.

I don't ever leave a car like these outside. Cold, heat, moisture will all take it's toll over time. I know not everyone has indoor storage space available, but just know that outside storage- covered or not- has a price tag also.

My CalSpec is always under cover. It may be better to get one of those portable outside storage/quonset hut style garages if you don;t have access to a garage or inside storage. I live in New Hampshire and she's always in the garage. I've had friends that have covered their car for the winter and parked off to the side on their lawn.............perhaps one of the worst things you can do.

Our two good cars are inside AND covered. This seems to be the ticket to keeping the black ones presentable.

Mine are also stored inside and covered. I found an "evolution" recently on craigslist. 3 months old, paid $100.

Poor guy was cleaning out his garage to come up with the insurance deductible for the delivery of his baby. I asked him if I paid $100, would I also have naming rights. :)

I think you can find these cheaper, but a good overview of some of the covers available:
