View Full Version : What do you drive in the winter? Timmknz 12/14/2009, 08:39 PM 1973 Ford Bronco sweeeeet Mustanglvr 12/14/2009, 08:58 PM This is what I'm driving right now. (97 Mercury Tracer) The front wheel drive comes in handy in the snow drifts here in Minnesota. Doug 12/14/2009, 11:26 PM 1994 Landcruiser - not that I need it in S. CA Doug green56 12/15/2009, 05:03 AM I drive a 2007 Nissen SUV with 4 wheel drive. Need it in Wisconsin GT/CS S Code 12/15/2009, 07:08 AM ... 1989 Dodge Dakota 4x4 ... A 3.9 litre V6 with a 5 speed stick and 303,000 kms, but still perking along just fine! It's handy for driving the local logging roads without having to worry about the inevitable paint scratches and small "dings" you get from "bush bashing". Northern Pony 12/15/2009, 08:26 AM My wife and I both drive Subarus, yes we need them here. We also ski all weekends, and they are a great comfort back and forth to ski hill. BoB JohnnyQuest515 12/15/2009, 09:31 AM What winter ? I feel for you guys up north! Everyday beater = 1995 Volvo 940 Wifies = 2007 CRV-EXL Weekend warrior = 2007 Kia Sportage Weekend cruiser = 1968 GT/CS Randy hookedtrout 12/15/2009, 10:31 AM Ford F250 Super Duty Lariat with a Snoway snowplow on the front or the Ford Focus or the Jeep Wrangler if the roads aren't too bad, not the GT/CS. Jeeps have a tendency to turn around the wrong direction on very slick bumpy roads, fun for wheeling in the summer off road but the short wheel base can create issues. admin 12/15/2009, 11:24 AM 1973 Ford Bronco sweeeeetExcellent choice! Not that we really have a winter down here, but I try to drive my 72 Bronco as often as I can now it's out of it's bodywork/paint cocoon. Mustanger 12/15/2009, 01:51 PM Here in So-Cal my Cal Specials, Classic '68 and 40th Anniversary '08, are my daily drivers, even in winter :thumb: ... Jon, it must be really nice to have your Bronco's body and paint done ... that's gonna be my next big step on my '68 ... I have to settle on a shop that'll make me happy  ... rvrtrash 12/15/2009, 05:23 PM I'm with Cory. Must be an Idaho thing. F250 extended cab Lariet 4x4 diesel. 4" of snow today. Steve sam 12/15/2009, 05:56 PM I use 2 pair of draft horses to travel the territory. One for go and one for show hotrodgrany 12/15/2009, 06:22 PM Both my Stangs are bedded down for the winter and of course I am driving my '03' Ford Ranger once again. gtcs1 12/15/2009, 06:59 PM Taurus 2010 SHO, with integral traction. Quite a fun car. Midnight Special 12/15/2009, 09:01 PM All of mine are driven and maintained year-round with the 1970 Mach being more or less primary (without classic car insurance restrictions). a 2001 Dodge Dakota stands ready for snow service. gazrox 12/16/2009, 08:36 AM The '67 Coupe hibernates for winter, the 68 CS is in a billion pieces, so its either my 03 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V or 06 Nissan Pathfinder for the nasty prairie blizzards! Northern Pony 12/16/2009, 07:07 PM I was looking at all your rides, so thought I would come back with a winter picture of my Subie, it's the blue one on the right. ( that is if I have learned how to post a picture ). BoB hookedtrout 12/17/2009, 12:30 PM Taurus 2010 SHO, with integral traction. Quite a fun car. I sure do like the looks of the new '10 Taurus SHO, Ford certainly seems to be leading the domestic pack as of late. robert campbell 12/17/2009, 05:29 PM Every dry day the GNS prowls the roads!! Rob di81977 12/19/2009, 01:50 PM Cars are a sleep for the winter:sad: First year I used wheel dollies to push them together into the corner of the garage. Amazing how much room I now have for the other cars. I drive a 2008 Cadillac CTS 3.6L direct inject AWD and, when I can get it away from the wife, a 2008.5 Mazda Mazdaspeed 3 GT with a 2.3L intercooled turbo. Mazda claims this inexpensive import rocket is the fastest front wheel drive car made in the world. Drives pretty good with winter tires in the snow. Mosesatm 12/19/2009, 05:33 PM <Snip> a 2001 Dodge Dakota stands ready for snow service. Good choice! Ruppstang 12/20/2009, 06:01 AM Good choice! It is also great to have this group to help. Marty Yeah, I'm pretty sure they just keep me around for comic relief. It's great to know that we can admit our screw-ups and not be worried about riducule! Scott 12/22/2009, 12:20 PM Hi, just wanted to share my new joy... it is quite the little maniac |
