View Full Version : Gotta be the worst!...
Midnight Special 05/17/2010, 06:59 PM ..."tribute" car I have ever seen! A painted up "Auto-Quest" shopping spree that appears to have been grafted from a '70 coupe (check the roofline).
Good Golly!

robert campbell 05/17/2010, 08:15 PM She be a coupe with some ugly rear vent louvers!!! But I have to admit, I needed to look at it twice..... Time to give up beer!
Rob
CougarCJ 05/17/2010, 10:26 PM I can't decide which I hate worse, the horrible reproduction C stripes, the side view mirror, or those butt ugly quarter louvers.
Ugh, what a mess.
Definitely, a what "not to do" to your Mustang advertisement.
Midnight Special 05/17/2010, 11:26 PM Scott, I suppose we can go ahead & buy it, paint it black and set it aside for a remake of Mad Max... No?
;-)
teamlo 05/18/2010, 04:02 AM I always like to start the morning with a good laugh. Mission accomplished!!

Ruppstang 05/18/2010, 04:59 AM In my work I see a lot of poorly done remodeling. We call it remuddeling. That car has been remuddeled!! A hole lot of work for nothing.
rvrtrash 05/18/2010, 06:13 AM OK, I'll give everyone a chance to take a shot at me. If he would've left off the out of place pillar window louvers and the rear louvers and done it as a Shelby de Mexico clone, he might have pulled it off.

I also had to take a second look at it because it looked like a '77 Volare to me.

Steve, I was thinking the same... I also saw the Volare / Aspen look Arlie was talking about. Perhaps we should all join Rob in giving up beer...and switching to whatever the restorer was drinking!
;-)
JohnnyQuest515 05/18/2010, 09:13 AM FUGLY !
teamlo 05/18/2010, 09:23 AM I'm gonna try something. When I get home, I am going to consume a 6-pack of PBR (tall boys, of course) and then put on my sunglasses and have another look at it.

Mosesatm 05/18/2010, 09:44 AM Is this a garden hose sticking out of the trunk?
robert campbell 05/18/2010, 03:57 PM Nope! Accent lights for under the fenders!! YAAAA BAAABEEE. If it don't go, chrome it and light it up!
One of the biggest mistakes of Val and I's life. Got married in 1978. Val owned the Fastback and for gods sake, I owned a 1969 Cobra Jet Ranchero.
Any pictures of Val and Rob leaving the wedding in a cool car???
Nope, my bro-in-law had a brand new 1978......... Wait for it....... Wait more...... Chrysler LeBaron!!! Yep, real Corinthin leather!!!! R%emember Ricardo's ads??
Man I wish I could go back in time!!! Just shoot me!!!

As I recall Ricardo Montalban hawked the Chrysler Cordoba. My Mom had a 1976.
Midnight Special 05/19/2010, 08:24 AM ...Yep. It was the CO'oordoba.
Johny Carson asked Ricardo on The Late Show: "What the heck is Corinthian Leather?" Ricardo said that he made it up! Chrysler liked it & ran with it...
robert campbell 05/19/2010, 08:48 AM My wife won a car arguement on this one. Called my bro-in-law and yup... Cordoba. What an ugly piece of crap.
One day they will be a collector car?

...Hmm... 'Don't know.
'Guess that would depend on if there's any wrecking yards in Corinthia.
Scott may know!
We can always clone one using a '70 Mustang coupe!
admin 05/19/2010, 05:03 PM Wow! Ummmm...wow.
It's not just a coupe with rear quarter louvers. They actually modified the rear pillars to take the coupe swoop out and try to graft in the fastback lines. That was a ton of work by someone.
I couldn't help it. I just had to put these shots together:

.Oh and was this the Aspen you were talking about?

Midnight Special 05/19/2010, 07:02 PM ...AWEsome Jon. Thanks!
:-)
Indeed it must've been a ton of work, but not bad craftsmanship considering...
Very unusual to say the least. Those Aspen vents look pretty close if you were to flip them over and mount them...
Mosesatm 05/20/2010, 08:55 PM How about this one? Is this the start of an epidemic?

Ruppstang 05/21/2010, 05:31 AM I saw that thought it would have been a good parts car if it was a real convertible. We have roads in Nebraska!

Looks like something that would have come out of the High school here in Grass Valley back in the early 80s. That was popular back then.
GT/CS S Code 05/21/2010, 08:22 AM Hmmm ... that's funny .... there are no bids on it yet? I guess everyone must be "lurking" in the weeds with an eSnipe bid on it?
PonyGal 05/21/2010, 08:56 AM I only have one thing to say about that one...

Scott 08/16/2010, 11:01 PM Hey Tim,
Just read your reference to Mad Max in this thread (sorry but I've been away). I'd say that looks about the same level of workmanship we had over here in 1975. Having said that, not only do we take max seriously down here but I love those 1975 aussie 2 door falcons so much I drove one every day for a couple of years. The special is about 20 years and 6 seconds ahead of the poor old 75 xb falcon I had despite how fast it looks standing still.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for thinking of me. Sure is nice catching up on all the old news.
Midnight Special 08/17/2010, 12:13 AM That's TOO COOL Scott!
Thank You!
:-)
rvrtrash 08/17/2010, 09:41 PM You know, I've watched the Mad Max movies a few times in spite of Mel Gibson being in them, because of those Falcon's. I wish Ford would've built them here as well. Maybe someday when I'm rich, I can import one to play with.
