Does anyone have one of those posts that was from a car scam? A friend of mine went to the recycler.com and found a 2003 motorcycle for 3500, but the guy is in feance and wants him to pay the money to a 3rd party shipper and he will ship it. If he likes it, he will keep it and if not, he can then get his money back. I told him it was a scam and that I would get the information on it. Help guys.. beore this guy gets ripped off.

Thanks.

The more typical scam is actually backwards from that. They want to buy your car, they send you a check for too much and say the additional $ is for shipping or to give to their contact picking up the car. The check appears to clear, you give them the car and the cash and then find out several days later that the check didn't actually clear.

However, your friends deal could be a scam as well. I personally would never deal with a car unseen without using a trusted escrow service. Especially over seas. I don't think the shipper in your friends case would qualify.

Here are some links on the more common scams.
