The 2010 Sturgis (South Dakota) Mustang Rally was this weekend. There were 500+ cars and 430 in the Show & Shine. I entered my 2011 just for the heck of it since I have never shown a car before. They placed me in the 2007 to 2011 California Special category, and I ended up with First Place. quite a surprise.

All in all this was a fun weekend with people from all over the country and Canada. Weather was great the whole weekend. Mustang people are the most easy going and approachable I have seen.

My wife and I just returned from the MCA Awards ceremony, where our recently restored, lime gold GT/CS was awarded a concourse trailered gold award. The show venue at the Biltmore was fantastic and the show was very well organized. There were nearly 500 Mustangs placed in two large parking lots, and the variety of Mustangs was incredible.

I had the pleasure of judging the '65-'66 Shelbys, and I must say, the cars in this class were incredible. Also, one of our site members, Danny Truitt (Gt-390gt) was awarded his judging "Gold Card", and I was honored that my car was judged by his team. There were only two other GT/CS Mustangs at the meet, a beautiful sunlit gold car and a meadowlark yellow car. Unfortunately, since I was judging, I did not have time to talk with the owners of these GT/CS Mustangs.

I'll post photos of the show when I return to Flagstaff (only 1948 miles from Asheville....but it was worth the drive!!!!)

I've gone bowling 49 times since June 13 (out of 85 days), so i guess you could say bowling is a passion of mine. I've been keeping track with an excel spreadsheet since June 13, because I bought a new bowling ball that day. I've been bowling with a Storm-Virtual Energy 15lb. ball with a fingertip grip with inserts for all three fingers. I have bowled 167 games with an average of 191.04, 861 strikes (5.16avg per game). My high game out of the 167 is a 278 (got the first 9 strikes, left the 3,6 picked it up then threw a strike for the 278). My best series was 257, 222, 278=757 on July 1st with 28 strikes in three games.

I'm just wondering if there are any bowlers on this site?

I have a High Country Special. How come my report says it is a California Special?

Actually your report should list both California Special and High Country Special as options. This is because Ford built the High Country Specials from the basic California Special option. In fact, if you had the original window sticker, it would list the California Special option and would not even make mention of the High Country Special package. This is just another example of how special production models were coded for build. Some special packages are not mentioned on the window sticker, like the 1968 High Country Special or the 1968 Gold Nugget Special.

A major milestone - I was finally able to plant the engine in my car over the weekend. Progress is still slow, but this was one of the easier things I've done on this car. As you can see in the pics, I padded the sides of the engine compartment with moving blankets. Even with the headers installed, there is not a scratch on the car or the engine. Now I can hardly wait to get it cranked and running.
