Well I decided to buy my son his first set of wheels ... a red Radio Flyer Wagon!!! I did some research on them and I discovered that not only have they been around a long time (since 1917), they also have a cool website.

Unfortunately, in order to survive with all the competition, the company had to outsource their traditional steel wagons to China as of early '04.

Good news is I bought a new wagon still in the box, with a "Made in the USA" logo on it, which was probably the last of the American made wagons. The whole thing made me kinda nostalgic :'( ...

I had one. Heck, we all had one. I bought one for my kids and I doubt that it carries the same nostalgia I had for mine. They had so many other things. They had big wheels. I always envied them for those. I wish someone would create an adult-sized big wheel. The one thing I have going for me with my kid's now beat up rusty old little red wagon...swap meets!! Every time I go to Columbus, OH or Carlisle, PA, you can bet my kid's little red wagon is in the back of the ol' KIA Sportage just in case I get the wild hair to purchase a Detroit Locker or an extra Toploader! I see those guys dragging around their Fancy-Schmancy wagons twice the size of "Red" with their composite frame, knobby tires and stock racks. So what! That little red wagon always does the trick. It once carried a new aluminum intake, left front quarter panel, right side headlight bucket, a console and numerous misc little things so it's a proven bad boy.

A note on a totally different little red wagon...my dad told me that when I was about 4, I got to take a ride down the drag strip in the "Real" Little Red Wagon...and it wheelied the whole way like it was supposed to! I guess the owner (can't remember his name now) took a liking to me. Man, I wish I remembered that!!

I love that stuff. Does anyone remember the old comic book "Cartoons"? The thing I remember the most about them was the Ed Roth Style cars with the Huge Engine and massive real tires and all the guys portrayed with these overly stereotyped bellbottom jeans and hair.

... here's some more little wagon fun courtesy Calvin and Hobbes ... :)

Here's what someone said about Calvin's wagon:

Wagon and Sled
Calvin and Hobbes often take rides in a wagon or a sled or toboggan (depending on the season) and talk about philosophy or politics as they hurtle downhill. The course of the vehicle and the obstacles that the characters negotiate as they travel frequently parallel the subject of their conversation, and the rides almost always end in a spectacular crash. Calvin's wagon has a lot of mileage on it, as it has made the trip to the planet Mars and back. The wagon has also been used as a time-travel vehicle, with less success than the cardboard box (although Calvin correctly describes the phenomenon of time dilation: "The faster we go, the slower time goes").

It's a crying shame that someone of such profound wisdom and intellect sold out and is now peeing on various things to the amusement of some.

Bill Watterson did what? I heard/read that he retired and was an "artist" that didn't want to commercialize the characters, in fact I did a search on Bill and that's all I found ???

They should be! Oh, I guess you meant from a copyright standpoint. They should be illegal for that reason too.
