No lube inside either? Sound like excessive play on the ring and pinion, if that is the noise.

it’s full of gear oil and I ran it enough to coat the gears. I’m taking him the car this weekend.

The clunk is before the gears turn. I can rotate the axle a long way before it engages.

I’m taking the car to him this Saturday. He’s going pull the pumpkin and find out what he did wrong. I think his underling probably built this one.
