You don't see them in this color combination every day. Looks to have a bunch of options, deluxe interior, convenience control group, tachometer, possibly a tilt away steering wheel, console, 4-speed.

However, never saw this color before and I believe the original might have been seafoam green. Also the DSO shows Seattle. So quite possibly a clone.

Here are some additional photos.
Supposedly, the seller is in Oregon but the car is at his brother's house in Yakima.

It has deluxe interior door panels and wood grain dash, shouldn't the body code be 65B?

Looks like 1970 bucket seats.

This one needs a Marti Report.

The color choice may be based on a magazine car from the late '80s.

We have several in that date range and DSO which are Marti Verified GT/CSs. They seem to have built them in blocks according to DSO. I would be more inclined to assume it is a real GT/CS and not a clone.

looking at the car below, one might think "There is no way that is a real CS", but it is. 15D date code. 72 DSO, but 74 DSO was common in that date range.

Anyone else notice what appears to be a "Branded Mustang" top emblem in the right side photo?

Although it is more likely that the badge was a "custom" touch added by the owner somewhere along the way, it is possible that a dealership ordered a branded kit for the car to customize it further since many of the cars seemed to move very slowly off of of dealer lots. The kits were available for both new and used cars, so if you wanted a GT/CS that was even more "special", I suppose you could have easily gotten your wish.

There is probably no way to know if this car was branded by the dealer without an original invoice. But it's kind of cool to imagine that someone might have bought it new (or used) with a paisley vinyl top.

Here's a link to more information about the Branded Mustang:

The door tag seems to be correct, but do we know the windshield data tag numbers or the title number?

The door tag is certainly not a deluxe interior 65B car as Scott says. Paint code on door tag is Seafoam. Best of what I can see of the interior code is 2B which is light blue/dark blue vinyl. Door tag does indicate a 4 speed car.

My guess is we are decoding a door tag and not the real VIN. The car looks like a saddle brown deluxe interior car with convenience control tach and tilt away.

Maybe someone can get the real VIN for it?

I just shot the owner's brother a note, asking if I can see the car this weekend, assuming it's still in Yakima.

ETA
It's still in Yakima so I'll head over there Sunday morning.

Looks like the interior code is 2G which is Lt. Ivy Gold Crinkle Vinyl and Ivy Gold Kiwi Vinyl, Standard Interior. That color is common on a code O Seafoam Green.

Steve is going to be in the area so he offered to help me inspect the car.

The hot Yakima sun has certainly melted the interior. I've never seen one that bad. I found the car in GoogleEarth and it's been in the exact same spot for a long, long time. The aerials go back to only 2003, and the car is there at that time.
I'm 100% sure this is the correct property because of the relationship between the car, the truck, and the house. Plus I confirmed it in Bing Maps.

Hopefully, the tires have air in them and we can roll the car forward so I can crawl under it to look for rust. If the bottom isn't rusted out this may be a great project for someone, especially if it turns out to be a GT.

I visualize $10K on exterior work (body & paint). Chassis & floorpans are an unknown until scrutinized. A LOT of work & $$$ on this car.

At least $10K, it may be pushing $12K by the time all the paint and bondo is scraped off and the horrors are exposed.
The way I see it that may not be a deal breaker because this car should be worth quite a bit more than a typical 289-auto-2.79 car when it's restored.
If I had the garage space this car could get me back into the restoring hobby, if I could get it for under $10K and the frame is in decent condition.

They mention still having the original engine. It hopefully still has the smog pump and related parts intact.
I suspect that this car is the result of two blended Mustangs. Hopefully the door tag, windshield VIN plate, and the fender aprons all match. And that the Marti Report says that 8R01J157484 is a GT/CS, but with a decore interior now.

By the looks of it this car needs everything: paint, chrome, interior, drivetrain. This one could easily suck up 30K on top of purchase price and you will end up with a 25K to 35K car. The 390 radiator and hitch tells me this one had a hard life. The sun baked interior means all the rubber on the car is shot, as well. Sitting outdoors for a bunch of years probably means critter damage and I would suspect all electrical needs replacement.

Only if the car has original paperwork outlining a dealer decorator package (I like the visual of a paisley top and remember seeing those but where would you get the material?) then maybe a fun one to do.........

A 24 inch radiator is typically seen on cars with air conditioning. It was also available with the 'extra' or heavy duty cooling option.

I have added 24 inch radiators to both of my non-A/C cars.

I'll write up a more complete description later but briefly, all the options were added by the owner. He purchased it in the late '70s and it was already painted brown at that time. He then found a wrecked car with a deluxe interior and placed all the parts in his car. He also added a 9" rearend and the radiator........and sidepipes.
It's been parked in the back yard since 1995.
The door plate matches the dash tag. The passenger quarter panel was replaced, as was the end cap and the tail light panel.

He also has quite a few original GT/CS parts, including a grille, 2 decklids, and two sets of end caps

More pictures and a better description tomorrow.
