Actualy the S code 390 is the real reason for the end of the K code 289. In 67 when Ford introduced the S code it out sold the K code more than 2-1 because most were look in for all the Hp they could get and the S code was rated at 325 Hp to the K codes 271. The real killer was that the S code cost less. The J code 302 was a higher Hp replacement for the A code 225 Hp 4V 289. Marty
