I think that the pictures are from the old school site where part of the original Harold LeMay car collection was housed. Was there in the 1990's for the annual open house. Harold and his wife were very gracious hosts.

That GT/CS was originally a bench seat comfort weave car, per the Marti and door tag. Standard Buckets now.

Any more info on this car?

Has anyone in the Seattle / Tacoma area actually seen this car in person? (Rob, do you know anything about this car at all?) A friend of mine up here in the Victoria area is interested in the car and wants to bid on it if the car is in reasonable condition and worth the effort to get it up here to Canada. Does anyone know if this particular car has any major "warts" that would seriously affect the value / price? It's been bid up to $15,300.00 so far ... do you folks think that it'll go much higher than that?
Failing this particular car (if it sells for way too much money or if it doesn't make a reasonable reserve price) are there any other decent quality '68 GT/CS's in the Pacific Northwest that are currently available for sale that he could consider as an alternative car?
Any info would be very much appreciated!

sorry I am a bit late. I have no knowledge of the car. Pictures look "ok" but car pics are always very forgiving. Appears to be the real thing. As Arlie said the side stripes need to be replaced. Rear valance is loose on right side. GT cap and dual exhaust "may" be a later add on. The underside looks fine for what you can see in the pics.

The shots of the trunk and hood alignment look ok. It would be great to see a close up of the side scoop for a witness line. The trunk lid shots do not let you look at the inside of the end caps to see if they are originals. Underside hood shot cut off the hole cut outs for the hood locks (darn).

But again Other than a little finishing the above comments are only if it is suspected to be a clone. It is not based on the proof.

Mu goes is in person the paint will not be as nice as the pictures show. But heck what a pretty car and great option combination. At near $16k I think it is reaching max value. No bargain, but someone should see it in person if they could. Nice an sunny today!! Drive real fast!!!

If it's not too far for you to drive do you have time to go and have a quick look at it in person? Our friend Andre is interested in the car and already bid it "blind" up to $15,000 and stopped when it went to $15,300 without having more info on it. If Rob (or anyone else that is near to Tacoma?) could have a look at it in person and give an opinion it would be very much appreciated!

(And technically Arlie he doesn't QUITE live in Victoria, he lives up in Shawnigan Lake which is about a 20 minute drive north of Victoria ...)

Unfortunately we couldn't get away to drive down and look at this car ourselves ... both Laurie and I were tied up today with an "Introduction to Shooting" course for a very nice group of about 28 ladies that we hosted up at our local gun club through the "Victoria Womens Shooters" group. We had the attendees shooting .22 handguns and .22 rifles to get their "feet wet" (shooting wise) for the very first time!

I could look at it, but you need to make the arrangements. I am about 30 minutes from Tacoma, but I have no idea if it is available to look at, or where it is exactly.

Thanks for the reminder Arlie!
I just re-read the auction description too (as tough as that is!) and I see that it is a "no reserve" auction as well as ending tomorrow, so it will definitely sell and that won't leave enough time for Rob to go and look it over first.
Andre will just have to keep watching for another suitable car. There have been several other GT/CS's come up for sale, but they're just too far away from home and it's awfully tough buying a "pig in a poke" for that kind of money, especially when you're dealing with the current currency exchange rate and the taxes that would also have to be paid after dealing with Canada Customs.
The search goes on ...

I think that he is fairly flexible as to what the car might be (colour, engine code, totally stock or slight resto-mods, etc.) if the price is right for the overall condition. He wouldn't want to have to travel TOO far to see it though as he's seen quite a few other cars listed for sale that were just too far away to comfortably deal with on a "blind" basis ...
