I have been watching this car on the Spokane Craigslist for at least 3 years. (I moved 2.5 years ago and I remember seeing it at my old house). He had it listed for around 15K for a long time and around a year ago upped his price to 18K. I have to admit that every time I run across his CL post it grabs me eye, love the Highland Green with the black top. Too bad about the hail damage.

Car is in Western Montana, I think Missoula or nearby.

He couldn't sell it at $15K so he increased the price. He told me that he did so because he looked at some online pricing guides.

That or so come November he can relist it as was $18,000 now reduced to $15,000 and still sell it for his asking price.

Original owner, decent looking survivor. Hail damage could be a problem.
C code, A/T, Console are the only visible options.
I believe it has more sentimental value than market value.
I would 'guestimate' $5K to $7K value pending inspection.

Being a one owner car, the seller likely thinks that it should fall into the survivor / unrestored category. Maybe it is being compared to one of those? This is appears to be a one owner, nice driver, that has had minor sprucing up, with hail damage, and a vinyl top with a seam down the middle?

I am with Neil on value. A painless dent guy will not be able to get all of those dents ironed out. Hail damage is expensive to repair from a labor/time stand point. Potentially worth more with an inspection.

"no visible evidence of rust on the body. There is surface rust on the under-carriage, i.e., frame (please see photographs)."

I do not see any pictures of the under-carriage.

I think that the owner has monetized the sentimental "value" of his car. Been for sale for a looooooong time yet no acknowledgement of it being overpriced since price has never been adjusted (other than upwards)

Not sure where the overpriced or rustang comes from. Based on the pictures in this ad. To determine its value it must be seen in person. There is minor surface rust in the engine area. Needs a thorough detail in the engine compartment. Very cheap for a buyer to do.

The only picture to determine rust in this latest ad is the engine shot. The top of all four fender aprons show no rust bubbles that are very common in old Mustangs that have extensive rust.

Certainly the hail damage needs to be addressed. The vinyl top is hard to see, but I do see some hail dents. I bet I could have my paint guy fix and match the paint on the horizontal surfaces for under $2k. Would it be a concurs restoration, of course not. But it could be a very nice local car show and cruise night car.

This car needs some love, but as Neil said, without a thorough inspection it behooves us to use restraint when we comment on its condition or value. We are considered the experts by default as members of this forum. We should always use restraint when commenting on a car without a hands on inspection. As a Montana dry car this car has the chance of being very rust free and a great candidate to work with.

As always, I would require a hands on look before purchase.

What's interesting is that the eBay link in the first post of this thread has ended and that the car was bid up to $22,100 ... and DIDN'T make his reserve price! If he is looking to sell it in his current CL ad for $18,600 why didn't he take the higher eBay bid that was offered? Something a bit strange about this one ...

Ebay fees are expensive and he had a larger audience. But I agree he is definitely attempting to get top dollar. Without a thorough inspection it will more than likely sit around on the sale sites. Some very definitive underneath pics would certainly help him sell it.
