Got the new car home tonight and it was pretty much what I expected. Paint looked like a 23 year old paint job, interior looked about as I thought, but boy did it run bad. Lady said it was sitting for 2 years so I guess the first thing I will do is wire, plugs cap, rotor, points. Also received a free car wash from mother nature. Ok here we go, do not call, I will be in the garage :-\ Chuck

2 years sitting??

drain the gas out asap! I bet you will have to rebuild the carb as well cause the gaskets are gonna be leaking. Use super unlead in it for awhile, I am sure it would like you for doing it.

Chuck;
Since you'll be tuning her up - changing plugs, points etc. I'd suggest putting in an electronic ignition setup. I don't know about everyone else but, my 390 was going through points like hotcakes. I put in a Petronix system and have had no problems. You can pick this system up at almost any resto shop. She even starts up easier. It's well worth the investment. Let us know how things go. Like you, I'll be in the garage tonight replacing a freeze plug that blew out yesterday. I was lucky only 1/2 mile from the house. Glad it didn't wait until this weekend on they way to a show. Good luck.

Don ;)
