    1968 Well, a melancholy day...arranged to sell the GT/CS

Need to clear the decks, and came to terms on the C code. Kinda sad as I won't get the chance to drive it after the long delayed/deferred restoration work. Still in the garage while some details are worked out on the sale, so can still look at her for a little while longer. But, got a fair...

    1968 Found my unicorn...

After, literally, two decades of looking I finally found a good set of OEM '68 factory headrests. Unfortunately blue, not black, but in "good" condition with all 4 mounting bezels (one cracked well into the seat, the are amazingly long... and thread to the mounts, did not expect that) and all 4...

    1968 Turn signal switch ID

Have an Autolite box w/C8ZZ-13341-A ink stamp. Someone marked it "C8SZ-A" in marker pen. The harness has a purple FoMoCo tag w/C8AZ-13B302-C1 on it. I think this is a tilt wheel switch, but am not sure. Can anyone confirm?

    1968 Restoring tail light wiring

Picked up a set of the T-bird tail light buckets with the OEM wiring intact and in "good" shape. Restoring the buckets and reflective interior is easy. The wiring is another story. Does anyone have some tips on: 1. removing the sockets and somehow replacing corroded springs on the contacts...

1968 Opinons on an interior modification...

Have a Wimbledon White/black car. I have been organising the garage and storage and stumbled across a '68 overhead console I forgot I had. I was going to sell it.... but then thought about adding it to the car. I also have a restored black deluxe steering wheel, so am contemplating doing a...

    1968 The never ending "repaint"....

Typically this project blew out the budget/schedule and the "while I'm at its" grew and grew... but we are getting close. Waiting on a new date correct distributor as the old one seems to have some "wobble" making tuning tough. Finished install of '69 headrests on the '68 seats yesterday, a...

1968 Normallly SD parts are underwhelming...

Tried out the "new and improved" '68 kick panels (black). Have to say the overall fit was pretty good. Unfortunately the screw holes were off, about 1/4" high on the upper and the front lower was also out by 1/4" too far back. But not sure how dead-on accurate the factory locations were...

    1968 Seat belt mounting hardware

Have the items below, think they came from my '68 convertible (San Jose, Dec '67) and X code coupe (Dearborn, March 68) I'm taking out the "Australian" seat belts in the GT/CS, and trying to go back to stock. The parts I have don't line up with the FAM, which we know is not always correct. I...

    1968 Firewall Hole ID

Got a PM asking for the decoder ring to a couple photos I did. This is based on a 68 S code manual GT. Could not find the original post. Any corrections or clarifications appreciated, can amend the list if needed. A – Power brake booster, red (manual cars use only two side holes on...

1968 anyone installed an electric antenna in their Stang?

Have a automatic extending Hirschman in the EXPs rear 1/4 and need to connect it. The "universal" instructions show a picture of a radio with the two wires from the antenna plugging into it... not likely with an OEM AM. In order to energize the antenna I am thinking I just need to put it in...

    She's finally home....

Some happy snaps from post cleaning/waxing today... high sun and a crap camera made it hard to get good pics, but a few close ups to show some of the details... need to have a photographer friend arrange something once I get all the little issues sorted (like the hanging ignition switch...

    1968 289 coil mounting

Have seen some on the left side of the intake, horizontal and facing forward. Others on the face of the block. left side, mounted vertically... Which is correct? Very late April C code.

    1968 Rear leaf markings

Found, on one, a silver or white strip... thought most springs had two color stripes. Basic 289/C4, nothing special.. anyone else seen similar marks on their springs? If I can confirm the stripe/color I may replicate it after cleaning them up..

    1968 The one day wonder...

...far from concours, but if anyone sticks their head under the car its going to look OK. Just need to let the red oxide dry a day or three and will mask and hit the machined surfaces with VHT cast iron (kinda a sparkly silvery that will look reasonable...) Decided against replicating any...

1968 OK, I hate it a bit less now...

As I decided to let the front set overnight, moved rearward. The diff was not touched in the repaint and the "crud look" frinally got ot me. So decided to pull it. Rear out in 30 minutes (did forget to remove the brake and wondered why it wouldn't roll out!) The front leaf bolts...

1968 Well... Ford could have made that a litte more difficult, if they really tried....

So finally get the car-from-hell-repaint engine running. Hooray! Then... drip, drip, drip... a leak from the timing cover/water pump.:icon_bore remove shroud remove fan remove PS Pump and brackets remove alternator and brackets drain radiator remove lower radiator hose, drain more fluid...

1968 C4 to shifter attaching parts

Have misplaced the parts off the GTCS. NPD lists a bushing set, part 7343-1, but notes it as 65-67. Not sure if it applies to a '68, but think so. Also noted 7341, the bushing but unfortunately out of stock with NPD for 65-71 C4/C6 applications... Anyone got a photo of the parts to connect...

1968 Sometimes it is the little things...

Went to install the e-brake. Cable too short... WTF??? After the odd exhaust issue thought the pony put on weight while sitting during the "paint job"! After a bunch of fiddling under the car, measured up off the GT S code ... the cable from the handle on the GTCS is too short...
