We have since installed a Cobra engine dress up kit with Cobra air cleaner and LeMans valve covers, an export brace and a Monte Carlo bar. I also installed a Cobra style wood rimmed steering wheel to replace a cheap aftermarket Grant wheel that was on the car when Terry bought it. There was a Hurst shifter in the car, but all of the linkage was loose and worn out so I replaced it with a complete new matching unit with white shifter knob (it came with both white and black shifter knobs, but I prefer white). The car had a set of bolt on traction bars when Terry bought it and a set of Hooker headers, which we’ll be replacing with a custom set of Tri Y style headers so that the power steering can be re-installed. (The owner before Terry installed a set of headers and removed the original power steering since it wouldn’t clear the Hooker headers.) We installed a new replacement headliner and recovered the front seats, but kept the original headrests since the Marti shows this to be the only one of the 27 Candy Apple Red “S” code 390 4 speed GT C/S cars to get the optional headrests.

Additional Comments: We’ve owned the car since 2007 when I bought it from my best friend Terry Rann. (Cancer took Terry in 2008 and he sold me the car the year before when he took sick since he’d loaned us the C/S to use as our wedding car in 1999 and he knew how much it meant to me.) In the 10 years that Terry had this car he probably didn’t put on more than about 1,000 miles and since 2007 when I bought it we probably haven’t put on much more than another 2,000 miles? (I honestly haven’t kept track of the mileage we’ve put on it and I’m too scared to check the gas mileage!)
