 MONTHLY SPECIAL    May 2006
I originally went in halves on this car with my father-in-law. The plan was to drive it until my 65 convertible was ready to drive. Then we were going to sell it and split the profit. I won it on Ebay for a very reasonable price. After driving it a little while and fixing a couple of minor problems with it, I was hooked. I paid my father-in-law off and started planning a blower installation. Or maybe I started planning a blower installation and then paid my father-in-law off. I can't remember details very well because of the fever.

In any case I was waiting for my convertible to be finished before I embarked on that project. But one day I blew a head gasket and decided to go ahead with the engine swap. It was originally a 289. I installed a forged piston 302 with a custom grind blower cam, the Holley 174 blower, and a Holley 750. I was hoping to stuff it all under the original hood, but even with a low profile manifold it wouldn't fit. So I bought another hood, cut a hole in it and installed a CJ-type hood scoop. It took a little work to match the paint, but I finally got it done. I love this car!!!!!
