1968 Finally Finished Restoring my GT/CS!

Thanks! The Comets are nice! Actually before I got this car I really wanted a 64 or 65 falcon. I saw a white one with blue interior at a swap meet and fell in love with it. I think what I didn't like about the Comet at the time was how long the trunk was! You all have very nice cars too...

1968 Finally Finished Restoring my GT/CS!

After being put up in 1996 and starting restoration in 2009 my first car is finally finished! I just ticked the last thing off the to do list. I was supposed to get my dad’s 1964 Comet Caliente for my first car, but at that time I wasn’t crazy about it. My dad traded a ’29 Ford Roadster...

    1968 Turn Signal Canceling Cam

I ordered this, it hasn’t come in yet so I can’t vouch for it. https://www.cjponyparts.com/cj-classics-turn-signal-wiring-with-fixed-steering-wheel-1968/p/TSW5/

    Side scoop screen

Thank you for the offer. Before I saw your message I purchased a roll of “premium vinyl” from Walmart. So far I’ve made one too big and one too small but have plenty of material still to work with.

    Side scoop screen

Does anyone know where to get this liner, or what to make it out of? Paul's book says it is vinyl. I guess that can be purchased at a sign shop. Does anyone know how thick?

    1968 Turn Signal Canceling Cam

Does anyone know where to get the turn signal cancelling cam for a non-tilt column? It looks like they are available all day for tilt columns. Has anyone put one in a non-tilt column or know where to get the proper one?

    Trunk Weatherstrip

Good question. I just put it over the old adhesive since it was only a few months old and was from the same tube. Probably not the most correct way but it works and you can’t tell unless you peel it off.

1968 Help with 15" tire size

Thank you for all the advice. The tires came in. They look much better than the old ones. Even though the wheels are in the air the car is resting on the axles in these pictures. Front: 215/70/15 - 26.9" diameter 6.5" tread width Back 255/60/15 - 27.1" diameter 8.5" tread width My dad...

    Trunk Weatherstrip

I would like to second what Ruppstang said about using the proper weatherstrip. The standard 1967-1968 mustang weatherstrip is not correct and does not work well. At least on my car it didn't. I'm no MCA judge and don't know what was originally on the car but am speaking from my own...

1968 Help with 15" tire size

Thanks everyone. The car is stock height or maybe just slightly higher in the back. I'm going to go with these. If they rub I'll try the 245's. I would have gone with them but the diameter is smaller than the fronts and I thought that would look weird. Front: 215/70/15 26.9" diameter 6.5"...

1968 Help with 15" tire size

I could use some help deciding what size tires to get. I am running some new 15x7 Shelby 10 spokes and have never had the car running with these wheels. I just bought some BFG White Letter 205/60/15s but they don't look right to me (sidewalls are too small). It has Granada front brakes and...

1968 Correct wheel for spare (and jack)

Thanks for the advice. I went with the chrome one and a GT center cap. I found it a little cheaper somewhere else. I also found a jack and lug wrench on eBay. I thought I was finished sanding and painting parts. This one will take a little elbow grease. I think the BFG tires I just...

1968 Correct wheel for spare (and jack)

Thank you. I think I have it narrowed down to these two. I think this one looks better, but I don’t know if it’s correct. I also think it’s probably heavier. https://www.cjponyparts.com/wheel-vintiques-styled-steel-wheel-15-x7-1968-1969-style-chrome-1965-1973/p/W109-V/ I think this one may...

1968 Correct wheel for spare (and jack)

Hi, I'm getting close to wrapping up a LONG restoration on my GT/CS and am trying to figure out which wheel to use for a spare. I have 15x7 Shelby 10 spokes on the car but thought it would be cool to use an original looking wheel for the spare. I see there are some aftermarket aluminum ones...
