    1968 R code GT/CS pics at show

Thanks guys! I thought you'd like to see a few pictures of it pretty much finished! John the original owner was able to take it for a ride and smoked the tires. We had a great time!

    1968 R code GT/CS pics at show

I got the Cal Special to the MCA in Southern Utah. I have a few things to finish and fix. MM did a photo shoot of it this morning. It took Gold so we are happy. Here are a few pics from the show Friday evening.

    1968 A few more pics

Here are some shots I downloaded tonight and thought I'd share. We used Scott Fullers Exhaust on the car and it fit very nice. I used some NOS rolled tips and welded them to Scott's pipes. The car is now running and the motor broken in. Interior is done and I have a few more days of work and...

    1968 Fog Lamp Hardware

I have the original hardware for the Fog lamps. They were rusty and had been painted black. What was the proper plating? I am guessing the long bolts were Phosphate and the lock washer brite Zinc along with the four square washers? I found some remaining brite zinc on the square washers...

    1968 Grille question

That is just what I thought from my examining the grille. Thank you for the confirmation.

    1968 Grille question

Thank you for the advice! It also appears on this grille that the two tabs attached to the grill that attach to the hood stop location were black? I didn't find the gray under the paint John had sprayed over the grille. Just some black. Does that seem to jive from what is the norm or should...

    1968 Grille question

I am in the process of restoring the grille to the C/S. It had been painted over the original color at one time. What I found was the two fog lite brackets were painted off the grille and then assembled onto the grille. The back side of the grille and brackets both appear to have been painted...

    1968 C/S 428 Motor

I was at Concord a few years ago with a K code convert. I have had the show on my mind, we might show up for that one.

    1968 C/S 428 Motor

Thanks! John is pretty excited to see it almost done and I know he is anxious to take it for a drive. The goal is to have at the MCA National show, the last weekend of April in Southern Utah.

    1968 C/S 428 Motor

We dropped in the Cal Special motor in today. I asked John (pictured) the original owner of the car to come over and help! All went well without a scratch.

    1968 68.5 car

I believe it is original. The screws matched and John said he never messed with it. It is the first one I have seen this way.

    1968 68.5 car

It was most definitely a black primer car. I am to neurotic to not put it back the way it was. Interior and exterior was red ox under the paint and black underneath. I just looked at all the pics I took and I must not have taken any good shots of it. We are on track to make it to the show. It...

    1968 Rear tail light panel

Thanks guys, I always believed it was a fuel shield. I have one but just not sure if a C/S should have it.

    1968 Rear tail light panel

On the rear tail light chrome, was the border blacked out or not? I have seen some with and with out. On the C/S I found some black left on the originals, but John came by today and said it should not be blacked out. Also, what about a fuel splash guard? I found no signs of one on the car...

    1968 68.5 car

I have been putting the C/S back together. I got it painted about a month and a half ago. Two things happened to me as I was getting it ready to shoot it. I tore my right shoulder again, third time and I need surgery. I was dealing with it and going to shoot it and just a few hours before I...

    1968 Deck lid paint

The first question I wanted to post was how many or rather how often did they paint the deck lid off the car. You can tell by the pictures that it was painted off the car. I had posted this question on the concourse forum, but I know there are obviously more Cal Knowledgeable owners here.

    1968 68.5 car

Here is a shot of the starter delay. It is the original, it has been painted with some silver paint. I'll restore it back. It is mounted differently than the Dearborn cars I have done. Mounted above the solenoid rather than with it. Also a picture of the right front inner fender, very cool.

    1968 68.5 car

Thanks Ralph! John had his reasons and if he wants to expand that I'll leave that to him. He sold it to the right guy!

Yes he sold it to one of my customers I introduced him to.
