I got the Cal Special to the MCA in Southern Utah. I have a few things to finish and fix. MM did a photo shoot of it this morning. It took Gold so we are happy. Here are a few pics from the show Friday evening.

I have the original hardware for the Fog lamps. They were rusty and had been painted black. What was the proper plating? I am guessing the long bolts were Phosphate and the lock washer brite Zinc along with the four square washers? I found some remaining brite zinc on the square washers...

I am in the process of restoring the grille to the C/S. It had been painted over the original color at one time. What I found was the two fog lite brackets were painted off the grille and then assembled onto the grille. The back side of the grille and brackets both appear to have been painted...

We dropped in the Cal Special motor in today. I asked John (pictured) the original owner of the car to come over and help! All went well without a scratch.

I believe it is original. The screws matched and John said he never messed with it. It is the first one I have seen this way.

On the rear tail light chrome, was the border blacked out or not? I have seen some with and with out. On the C/S I found some black left on the originals, but John came by today and said it should not be blacked out. Also, what about a fuel splash guard? I found no signs of one on the car...

The first question I wanted to post was how many or rather how often did they paint the deck lid off the car. You can tell by the pictures that it was painted off the car. I had posted this question on the concourse forum, but I know there are obviously more Cal Knowledgeable owners here.

Here is a shot of the starter delay. It is the original, it has been painted with some silver paint. I'll restore it back. It is mounted differently than the Dearborn cars I have done. Mounted above the solenoid rather than with it. Also a picture of the right front inner fender, very cool.
