Lost GT/CS at Texas A&M? Craigslist Houston listing

Hi all, I've been out of the GT/CS scene for several years now since the sale of my GT/CS, but I had to tell everyone about this Craigslist listing in case a local (or even non-local) party is interested: http://houston.craigslist.org/car/204950928.html Maybe this is a "lost" GT/CS? Enjoy :)...

    Photos - Red '68 HCS

Tom, Your car looks great! I'm glad to see it finished. It sure is a far cry from what you started with. [For anyone that hasn't seen them, the before pictures of Tom Elledge's GT/CS are in the Gallery]. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. -Winston

Buying a GT/CS, need advice of experts, is it authentic, est value?

Decklid = trunklid End caps = rear quarter extensions (the finish the sides of the ducktail spoiler) Jon, I think the stripes look fine as well. Kevin, what makes you think that they're not original (besides them being clean)? -Winston

Buying a GT/CS, need advice of experts, is it authentic, est value?

Both fender aprons actually have the VIN stamped. The only thing that could throw you off is if the apron is a replacement. And as Jon said, you have to unbolt the fenders to see it. Just unbolt the top bolts and loosen the door bolts enough to slide the fender away an inch or so. That's all you...

    Authorized GT/CS dealers

Man, that's a great question. I'm sure Paul has some inkling based on his database, but that's a question that only Kevin Marti could answer with certainty. If some of the folks here with Marti Deluxe (or Elite) reports could post their dealership info, that might be a cool thing to add to the...

Cali Special w/ 175k on engine?

Honda engines these ain't. After 35 years and 175,000 miles, that engine will almost certainly need a rebuild. Even if it seems to be running fine, it's just a good idea. Do you know if it's had ANY work done to it (like head work, for example)? -Winston

    Wide Grill for GTCS

It appears that you're referring to the grill moldings, which have holes drilled in them for the Lucas pedestal mountings. If that's the part you're talking about, they're aluminum with a polished lip (leading edge) and the interior (flat) surface painted "dark grey metallic." -Winston

Found '66 HCS in a barn... sort of

I can understand his (valid) desire to make a buck -- I've been there too. I'm just pleading that he settle for several hundred dollars by selling it to someone who will restore it -- thereby rescuing this rare car -- rather than parting it out and making more money. No, it doesn't make economic...

Found '66 HCS in a barn... sort of

I agree that the HCS cars aren't up there as far as value is concerned. The car in question here is probably only worth about $1000 more than the same coupe without the HCS designation, once restored. However, my opinion (which you disagree with apparently) is that money spent in enjoyment is...

Found '66 HCS in a barn... sort of

In my experience, restoration costs almost always exceed the value of a car. He isn't being forced to buy the car and part it out. I would suggest that he try and find someone that is willing to restore it and pass this find on to them. That's my point -- this car should only go to someone...
