...So I'm working away on Thursday and I get a call from my son, TJ. "Dad - don't get me wrong - I love my Mustang & all we've done to it, but it's costing me $25 bucks a day just to go to school & my various jobs in gas! Also, we've made it too nice for the kind of driving I need to do every day. I have something I want to show you & if it's okay - I'd like to get it!"

"Alright"
I said, "Bring it by & let's talk..."

'Turns out he's been saving his $$ and watching craigslist. He arrived with the seller and this rather basic, but otherwise sound Vdub'. After a thorough "ring out", TJ went to his bank & paid the $1,200 cash. All the while, the seller's phone was ringing away with other offers which seemed indicative of many people also seeking practical transportation to combat today's gas prices...

Do any of you have similar stories of late??
;-)

Okay, I won't make any "Herbie" jokes since I really do like TJ a lot, but could you do me a favor and ask him if it came with one of these...

I miss the flamed Festiva and the 43 mpg, however the Focus gets 30 so I won't complain.

That's the reason I bought my Shelby GT. The fuel bill on my F250 Diesel was killing me! Much cheaper to run a 2007 Mustang as a daily driver.

Tell TJ that I do not like the departure from the blue oval but do understand the need for MPGs. When he gets tired of it I guess that the VW engine makes a fair home built aircraft engine. Fly to work? Marty

...Son of a gun, Renee! In looking at some more photos - that IS the key! ;-)

Al & Marty - There are some Pintos here & there, but not too many with decent "rubber bands" (timing belt)

I like Steve & Cory's option best, but the boy is being trained to use his own $$. I suspect one day he will have a supercar that out performs all of ours powered by hydrogen or ??... That would be pretty boring to me, but by then I will be too old to care.

'Lord only knows what our future holds... ;-)
