In this weeks issue of AutoWeek on page 29 the it shows a 1968 Ford Mustang GT California Special – sold at Mecum Auctions; St. Paul, Minn for $19,163 - date of auction was June 23, 2007
1968 Ford Mustang GT California Special Coupe
289-cid V8, four-barrel, auto. Red and black with black vinyl interior. Claimed to be the only red GT/CS built, confirmed by Marti Report. Body shows a decent older repaint but with light orange peel visible throughout.

I was surprised to learn that this was the only one built – but I get surprised easily. If you can find the magazine it’s worth reading.
