Ok that helps..I am assuming then that all the mounting near the dash is done via the pedal support? If so should there be 4 studs or just 2. Mine only has 2 (near the middle). The only other place it could bolt up is where the pedal support bolts to the dash itself. Does that use studs also?

I think that is bolts. Go back and look at the pictures posted on the first page of this thread with the column out of the car. Does yours look like that? Maybe it would also help us if you posted a picture of your column and hardware.

This is what I have to mount the steering column (except for the firewall bracket, which is not shown)

I finally figured it out!!!! The front of the brake pedal support is attached to the dash via 2 studs, which hang down, and the steering column attaches to that..Thanks to everyone for their help and pictures..I dug through my bolt box until I found 2 studs that appear to be correct. They had the same nuts as the other studs on the brake support. Now on to my next question before I install it....

Now you are talking. Be sure to put your firewall bracket on before installing.

I want to say again, align your rag joint with the front wheels in the straight position and steering wheel straight. Otherwise, after installation of steering wheel, you may have to loosen whole assy and disconnect from rag joint to align front wheels and steering wheel.

Hope that makes sense.
