Turn signal question, when I apply the brakes the flashing stops? If I let off the brakes they flash again. Where to look first?

That is what I would recommend as well. If the ground is okay at the tail lights, then look at your flasher unit in the dash. Flasher units are pretty easy to replace and do not cost anything to replace but time. Usually, these problems all come back to bad grounds.
