COMMENTS: My car was parked in a driveway. I was not sure what it was. I knew that it was not a Shelby. This was in the summer of 1990. I bought Pauls book and found out what it was. I also contacted Ford but at that time all they did was send me stories from magizines. I then kept after the owner and finally he sold it to me. It had good fiberglass and all of it was there. The car only had on small spot of rust. And light front sheet metal damage. No grille or Lucas lights. The car was Lime Gold with a black stripe, but the person I bought the car from painted it blue, everything had blue paint on it. It had blue house carpet on the floor, and ugly high backet bucket seats with purple cloth. I did a title search and talked to the second owner he told me that it was a California Special and that he had bought it for his daughter in 1975 but she did'nt like it.
The person that I bought the car from had a roll bar in it and a reverse lock out and planned to race it. He had bought it years before it still had his 1977 high school tossell hanging from the rearview mirror. Any how I know have a Marti Report and letter from Ford.
The car had a GM radiator in it and the person I bought the car from cut it up so that the radiator would fit and drilled holes in the radiator support core for big hood pins. I replaced the core and the battery apron. Put in a 64 Mustang A code 289 and a Mustang 4 speed trans. I have replaced the steering, suspension engine, transmission, brakes and interior myself.
In April of 08 I rebuilt a 351 and pulled out the 289.
