    1968 Well, a melancholy day...arranged to sell the GT/CS

None. He bought it as a very factory/stock car, and intends to keep it that way. Few and far between and wants to maintain it as a piece of history, not resto-mod it... He said he may even keep the stock front drums on it! (which I never had a problem with, you just drive to suit the car)

    1968 Well, a melancholy day...arranged to sell the GT/CS

Need to clear the decks, and came to terms on the C code. Kinda sad as I won't get the chance to drive it after the long delayed/deferred restoration work. Still in the garage while some details are worked out on the sale, so can still look at her for a little while longer. But, got a fair...

1968 Where are the markings on the '68 CS

3 lines running 3 shifts, 300,000 cars in '68, hand marked by humans not robots...

    1968 Engine questions (289 2-V AT)

All good advice. But have one tangential question. "changed distributor to a the property autolite single vacuum distributor." I just replaced the dizzy on a very original C code. The date on the existing dizzy was spot on for the car's build date, and showed wear to say it "could" be the...

1968 Where are the markings on the '68 CS

As for marking there is no "standard" you have to strip the car carefully and look at what you find on your car. Common areas for marks are: - lower radiator support - RH apron on the outside area above the battery tray - differential - driveshaft (paint stripes) - brake backing plates (paint...

    1968 Hood Bumper

well, photobucket is down so can't post a pic. The hood locks take the spot the bumpers went in, brackets are added with the Dzus locking springs. The hood bumpers were then relocated to the front-most bolt hole on the fender. They are still needed to provide a snug closed fit, adjust to...

1968 Powder Coating Argent wheel rims

+1 on paint, I've rattle canned a few sets and the benefit is if you get a ding, sand and spray...done... with PC and dings, pull the tire, sandblast and recoat... and hope for a match!

    Wanted Trunk Lid

+1 on Marty's comments. I bought a Branda for my EXP and once it was in hand I looked around for an original. Luckily I found one quickly, even with the minor repairs to the OEM the overall install and prep costs were lower than using the repro (to get the fit and finish I wanted, onc could...

    1968 Hood vent colors

+1 on same color as hood stripes, if applied. Other than that, body color. Have seen quite a few cars where the insert and grille were chromed. Not my cup of tea, but to each their own.

    1968 Vinyl top

When doing mine (3 vinyl top cars, 2 San Jose, one Dearborn) I did not find the old strips. I just glued the top into the channel with high quality contact cement and then filled the channel with Sikaflex sealant. 7 years on the oldest, no issues so far...

    1968 Found my unicorn...

Thanks Marty! I did notice the hex, thought I'd need to make some sort of "tube wrench". They do seem to get a it seized to the base threads. Would you have a pic of your fabricated installation tool?? I have a friend who does 3D printing and may look into scanning and replication of the...

    1968 Found my unicorn...

A few photos for others reference. In looking at them a bit it now makes sense to me that the sleeve is threaded to the mount, fixes that length from sleeve to top of seat. Also note the large jam nut to allow the post sleeve in the mount to be shifted left/right as required.

    1968 Found my unicorn...

After, literally, two decades of looking I finally found a good set of OEM '68 factory headrests. Unfortunately blue, not black, but in "good" condition with all 4 mounting bezels (one cracked well into the seat, the are amazingly long... and thread to the mounts, did not expect that) and all 4...

1966-67 HCS Brake light switch & no brake lights

Would suggest looking at the pedal switch as item #1. Then grounds. Not familiar with the 66's but on the 68's the wiring goes on from the right. The side would be dependent on if you install the switch with the "U" up or down, I've always installed the with the open end up..

    Oh the irony

Nice cars, and well.... on the oil issue. Based on 2014 data, the US was the #1 producer of oil on the planet. Iraq was #8 in 2014, Afghanistan is irrelevant with respect to oil (their cash crop is poppies). Not sure how the wars in the two countries does anything to modify Saudi, Russian...
