  • What would you prefer to use to paint the engine bay since its stripped down to the bare metal? I was going to use Por 15 but there is no rust.
I would ask this question on our forum. Marty Rupp or Jeff Speegle, or Mike Jewell will have good answers. My own guess would be 1/4" to 3/8" gap at the rear edge.

    Hello Neil,
Could you tell what an acceptable gap between the hood and cowl area is? I have about a 1/2" or so. Seems too much to me???
    Thanks
    Rick
    Hello Neil,
This might be a crazy queston but are all CS hoods the same length? I got a line on a hood. Seller claims it came off a CS. Is there anyway to tell?
    Thanks a bunch!

Thanks for that information. I am testing the waters with this add. What do you think a good asking or selling price would be for this car? It does not have the original 302 block, the block is out of a 71 302 Torino. I do know where a C 302 mustang engine is. Thanks
Neil I did get it and thanks. I didnt try it yet. As soon as I got home ftom the boat we went to florida. I can try it thursday.

    Neil,
So what intake and carb would you consider for a stock C-code 289? I got some news yesterday that my carb needs to be replaced. I was wanting to do this when I rebuilt the engine next year. But it looks like I will be doing it earlier than expected. I may work the heads a little and make it J-code horse power. But I want to stay away from headers. Did Moses get rid of the J-code to give to his nephew?

The car is solid, not a concourse car but a good daily/car show car. I would buy it if I was looking. Seller very honest
    Neil
I am on my way to see the car. Call me if there any particular thing you want me to look at. 8178518267 mark
    Neil,
I saw where you commented on person who was having problems with a fuel gauge on Vintage Mustang Forums. I am going to check the float on mine and since I am going to drain the tank I might as well put in a new one. Would you buy a Scott Drake sending unit with a brass float or a plastic float or a Nolan Glaziers Mustang Barn sending unit. I saw where someone was bashing the SD and saying the NG was better. What do you think and what size is the outlet again? Dominick
O.K. Neil I came across some decal questions. As I was looking in the registry there is some pictures of engines. What is the decal that goes on the left valve cover on a 289? Is there a "front"decal on the air cleaner? The catalogue says this is for a 1967. But some of those photo's have this. What decal goes on the left side of the air cleaner the long autolite or the short one? Or is the long one for a big block engine? Is there a decal on the back of the air cleaner on top? If you have the registry check it out for me. Also tank tone is pretty close to argent so I painted the hood striker and trunk striker this color. The hood latch I had bead blasted and clear powder coated. Is the whole grill the dark grey metallic back and front? And is the piece in front where the fog lights mount the same color or black? I am not trying to be perfect, but since I have it out I myse well do it right. I stumped mosesatm with these questions.
    Thanks, Dominick
Hey there Neil just wanted to say thanks I got the box today. Looks really great! Keep a lookout for a couple of letters from me. I tried calling you but they said you left already.
    Thanks again!
    Rick
    Neil,
Just viewed the Highland J code you are obtaining. Beautiful car. As you know Im looking for another GT/CS as well. I dont know exactly how to say this tactfully.... would you give me a 'purchase range' on the Highland green J code cal special? It appears to need very little, and the last cal special I purchased was in 1993. I dont mind paying what 'fair market value' is, but I dont want screwed over either. (And as Arlie said about your car, I too wouldnt break with tradition and try to purchase the Highland Green J code out from under your nose..lol) Thanks for your help. Anything told me would be in confidence. Thank you. Doc
I appreciate the help. Most of the coils have been right where you describe, but I also seen them on both side mounted vertically on the front of the block by the heads.

Anyway, my e-mail is dpheyes@ymail.com if you want to send those pics.

    Thanks again, Doug
