Correct California plate number range for '68s

Holy cow!!! I guess I should have Googled this subject first... Some good info from some old-timers that were here in California at the time (and not in diapers like I was in the early 60's) http://forums.vintage-mustang.com/showtopic.php?tid/1471820/all/1/

Correct California plate number range for '68s

Hey all, Does anyone know what the correct Black and Gold California plate letter/number range is for 1968? I do know that "XCJ nnn" is in the correct range. My Dad's Lime Gold CS back in the early 70's had this as the original plate. Thanks, Jeff

    Kickdown rod?

Hey Tim, Are you talking about the linkage between the accelerator pivot(?) (bottom) to the transmission? If so, my C4 uses a cable for the kick down. -Jeff

    2007-08 GT/CS Registry?

The report reads that it's not a CS. Tell-tale indicator that it's a CS is code CJRAPO -California Special Side Stripe.

    Radiator mounting

Aluminum Radiator different form factor than stock? Bill, I just re-read your post and that you are using an aluminum radiator. My comments were for a stock type radiator. I don't know what the aluminum radiator looks like on the bottom. Hopefully, it has the little notches for mounting like...

    Radiator mounting

Bill, I just went through replacing my 20" radiator (non-clamp-in) with the 24" clamp-in type. You should not need to drill. There are already holes for the lower mounts. I tapped the existing holes (on the angled frame pieces) to ease the bolt installation on each side. I don't think it's an...

    2007 Production numbers

I read on another forum the5% mix number, too. I believe it is the same mix for '08 also. I haven't seen the total production numbers for '07...not sure they are even available yet. But, if you use '05 (~160,000) and '06 (~165,000) and then assume the '07 numbers are somewhere around 165,000and...

How many have (or will have) old and new CS?

I agree. Perhaps not enough thought on the poll. We could slice and dice the poll many different ways with more choices. But I assumed that if people are here on this site, they probably already have a '68 or an '07/'08. Hey, it's all in fun...what other choices would you all like to see?

How many have (or will have) old and new CS?

Steve, I remember when those first spy shots of the new CS came out. I was not a fan of the stripe and where they placed the GT/CS script. I was kind of disappointed that Ford didn't do more to make it look like the original. But after awhile, the new styling and it's uniqueness grew on...

How many have (or will have) old and new CS?

Let me first say that I'm not at all trying to instigate anything here. I'm just curious and passionate about these cars (old and new) and wondered how many of you one day would want a new gen CS next to the old. For me, pretty soon after the new CSs became available, I knew I had to have one...

    07 08 cs mileage?

Jbart, I average about 21 mpg on a tank. My commute is twisty and over a 1600 foot pass. I've averaged close to 28 mpg on highway trips...pretty happy with the gas mileage so far. Don't ask me about the mileage in the '68 with the 347... ;-(

    Green Hornet Articles

David had the idea of the 5.4L Supercharged GT500 engine and 6 speed gear box, etc. So, should this new GH start as a Shelby GT500? And then be modified by GAS? Or should it start as a Mustang GT? (or GT/CS)?

    Green Hornet Articles

Hey Casey, Maybe while we're there at the GAS event, we can put the bug in their ear ;-) As a think more about it, a GT/CS GH would be such a unique car to have. And who knows, if there's enough interest they might take on the project. Also, thanks Arlie for creating this new thread and...

What Colors would you like to see available for the 2009 GT/CS?

Another observation on the pics of the Green Hornet- The story reads that it was made from an early '68. But it has the later design rear side markers. Does this make sense? Or maybe in the restoration it got new rear quarters? Was it ever a mess of rust?
