    1968 License lamp Shield

Do you have the right one for your car? 67-8 and 69-70 versions are different. Upper one is the 67-8 version Have a couple of poor 67-68 ones that likely will help little. Most of the time they are missing or rotted and have fallen off. Out here once the bumper is removed from the car in a...

    1968 build sheet

Out of the hundreds I have from other plans I only have a handful (copies from others and ones I've found) from San Jose. Since that plant used them differently than NJ or Dearborn there is little luck you will find one. At the other plants a copy of the build sheet was attached to subassembles...

    1968 help needed

Think one of the challenges it the term " the right way" This can be taken as a really strong repair, like original or other ways and they don't always mean the same thing. Many welders will think nothing at adding extra brackets or welds in an effort to make it better or stronger ( got lost of...

    1968 Numbers matching question

Let's try this. In an effort to track and identify parts Ford, contractors and sub contractors placed markings on many of the parts that make up our cars. Many of these markings included the date the part was made. This also allowed Ford to identify lots and time periods if there was a problem...

1966-67 HCS 1967 High Country Special Question

Like SOME of the other specials they can be identified (if the color or other parts installed at the factory were non0 regular production options) by the 6 digit DSO's since they would have been ordered in a group or groups (all sharing a common DSO)

1966-67 HCS 1967 High Country Special Question

A little off topic so forgive me, but is Bob tracking/documenting the 66 High Country Specials. Found one - possibly (what was left of it) in a yard and thought I should pass the VIN to whomever is collecting them.

    1968 Water Pump

I would choose painted black ;) Never seen a natural one and believe this natural description is a left over from past sheets where some judges had found them rusty :0 The Shelby sheets do not list the option of either finish and the engines for both were assembled at the same place ;) Just a...

    C code detailing

Instead IMHO I would use the MCA rules. Found allot of stuff in the "Detail Guide" that does not agree with original cars but it has been years since I looked at one. Maybe they updated it .... likely not. Noticed allot of the paint mark stuff was not correct - just not a good reference guide...

    1968 Trunk color

Seam sealer & sound deadener applied before exterior body color, also trunk hinges and trunk lid installed also. So the mounting bolts, spring and all get exterior color. No gas tank taillights, filler tube/neck or wiring yet ;) Patterns and texture of the sealer and sound deadener can vary...

    1968 J-Code GT/CS Restoration Thread

Searching isn't a problem IF you find another example from the same plant and time period. When you can't find (and never hurts to ask for another example) simply ask. Believe everyone would rather help before than inform you after ;) Don't check this site more than once or twice a week but if...

    1968 J-Code GT/CS Restoration Thread

Typically from that viewing angle - no Here is an example from the 160180 period. The direct/overspray application on the trunk drop (where the gas tank mounts up is very typical)

    1968 J-Code GT/CS Restoration Thread

Originally the ram was bare steel but there are a number of different metals and processes used to make up the ram. Basically you have a bare steel tube welded to the ends which are a darker bare steel. These were welded together so you should have the bluing of the center tube and the weld...

1968 Frame Detailing - Please comment

Do see many reproducing the dolly marks by spraying a "natural " paint over the present red oxide and other floor colors (for other years) but if judged - the judge will see the difference. Difficult to fix/reproduce one you get paint on the car. Originally (and many now reproduce) the frame...

1968 Frame Detailing - Please comment

Looks good - some suggestions 1- Agree I would like to see more black on the front cross member with overspray on the leading face of the strut mounts - from the front 2- You overlooked /forgot the dolly marks - at least the front ones 3- The cowl/ firewall section at the back of each...

    1968 Mustang GT/CS convertible ?

Think for pricing you need to look at what a small block Shelby Convertible was selling for and of course cars would likely have had to have been converted IMHO after April to have many of the parts available to a regular dealer. I've searched at the state library for ads - thinking that its...
