    1968 Turn signal switch ID

Have an Autolite box w/C8ZZ-13341-A ink stamp. Someone marked it "C8SZ-A" in marker pen. The harness has a purple FoMoCo tag w/C8AZ-13B302-C1 on it. I think this is a tilt wheel switch, but am not sure. Can anyone confirm?

    1968 Restoring tail light wiring

Thanks, yes it was rewarding to fix a part most told me not to bother with. If corroded plug contacts are an issue, the typical difficult to install/remove bulb (loose and floppy as the contact is crushed and rusted to the base of the socket, or rusted "up" and makes it hard to get the bulb out...

    1968 Restoring tail light wiring

Got the parts from YnZ. Worked great. Thieu 1/4" wire loom is extremely close to the OEM. Getting the harness apart is a bit tricky to sleeve it on. Here are some pics of the first harness. Perfect.. no, but a far sight better than the frayed, exposed-wire state it was in. Loom...

    1968 Seat belt installation

On my '68 with the OEM style "2 belt" setup I used the shorter buckle for the shoulder, and on top. On most originals I have seen the small stippled metal washer goes against the body, the rest has been variable. I think the large washer goes on next, then the belts (or it could be a spacer...

    Post your Marti Report here

Wonder if someone could cut a deal with Marti to just dump all GT/CS from the database and be done with it... as the data is there. Maybe even a list of VINs (as I don't think this is in any of the registries as I believe all are "as reported") which may be cheaper than complete reports. A...

1968 Hemmings, AutoTrader, eBay, here, craigslist, etc?

Ebay/Craigslist probably have more tire kickers than the others... Depends on your pricing and how motivated you are to sell. If a nicer car and asking higher $ Ebay and CL are more likely to get the lowballers dissing the car. Hemmings is probably the other end of the scale. More sites...

1968 Sad news about my mutt

Well, I'd say as a GT/CS it has the whipped cream, the lack of a VIN on a correct c4 is like missing the cherry or a sprinkle of nuts... Here in Australia a cobbled together collection of billet bling and after market go fast parts is seen by most as more desirable than a really original...

1968 Problems with Headlight high beams

Think if the headlight switch "breaker" was active it would kill both low and high. I would check the power to the plugs, look for corrosion/loose connections and if the power feed is hot on the high connection. Test the lamp to ensure it is working on both hi and low beam (battery with...

    1968 Restoring tail light wiring

Well, just spoke to the owner of YnZ. Really nice guy, very helpful. As the automated web shipping wanted $250 for a small box, they offered to hand pack and find a cheaper alternative. Done within an hour of my call, and now on the way. They make a lot of their own parts and while not...

    1968 Restoring tail light wiring

Thanks for that, I have seen that style here in Australia. May look into a sample. It appears the YnZ may be a bit closer, but as a hidden part may take the path of least resistance...

    1968 Restoring tail light wiring

A note on another forum dismissed the loom/cover from YnZ. It "looks" similar on screen, but that is not really a great validation. In looking at the Tbird taillight covering/loom its different to the "standard" woven on most of the Mustang looms. Looks tighter and more "solid". Has anyone...

1968 Problems with power steering control valve

Odd, unless the bores are bad (worn, scored or pitted) there are only about 3 or 4 seals to install. Pretty easy to rebuild. A common error is not replacing the olives (seals in the hose ports). If old and scored they can leak like a sieve. Easy to replace, so if the leaks are there...

    1968 Restoring tail light wiring

Found these. http://www.store.ynzyesterdaysparts.com/1-1/8-double-contact-park-and-tail-socket.html Looks like a direct replacement for the inner base/springs/contacts. Toss the outer housing. Snip the old contacts off, sleeve on the new fitting, solder new tips. Lose about 1/4" of wire...

    1968 rebuilding transmission

Consider DIY if you are handy. They are not hard to rebuild. Buy the "Bad Shoe" videos on line and you can rebuild it in a weekend... and learn something and save a lot of $$$!

    1968 Go Fast Parts

Well... as the "300 Hp" would be a top-of-the-curve point at high rpm. And on the street... with some effort to get your mpg goal... you would see that point about 0.3271% of the time you drive... if you keep your foot out of it I'd see no reason why you can't get at or close to both. But...

    1968 Restoring tail light wiring

Picked up a set of the T-bird tail light buckets with the OEM wiring intact and in "good" shape. Restoring the buckets and reflective interior is easy. The wiring is another story. Does anyone have some tips on: 1. removing the sockets and somehow replacing corroded springs on the contacts...

    1968 Trunk leveling

The upper rear edge of the trunk? AFAIK (and on pretty much every Shelby/GTCS I've seen) they never lined up, trunk always sticks up a bit higher than the end caps. About 1/4" or so. And the trunk lid also usually has a slight curve to it that makes aligning the two sides to the fenders...

1968 My buck tag. What does it tell me?

Yes, no tag is normal for San Jose builds... Most San Jose cars did not get delivered with buck tags. The tags were removed prior to completion/shipping...
