1968 68 HCS out of hiding

Your HCS looks great by the way...nice restoration. I think I have a little more work to do on this one then the one you bought...some small rust on front of both rear wheel openings...easy fix though. Looks can be deceiving it fooled me, the cowl leaked trapping water inside, even the edges...

1968 68 HCS out of hiding

As I remember you bought your car from Curtis. We all most bought it because we really liked the color but in the end went with the red because it was much better equipped. All of those cars were fried. Is this your car? Our went from this to this. Marty

1968 Emergency brake under car parts - finish?

I have found some 68 SJ cars to have S8 zinc finish on the arm. The retainer clips were phosphate and IMHO the Orange was brushed as a inspection mark. Marty

+1 I did the testing in one of our cars for them and is very easy to do. As Arlie said just follow the video instructions. Marty

    1968 GT/CS restoration

Beware of this one it has 67 quarter scoops. It may have had a 67 quarter put on. All I am saying is be careful even this one may sell in the mid 20s. Marty

    1968 GT/CS restoration

I know that it is likely I will not get what I invested in our cars back, but that is ok. I had fun finding them, restoring them, showing them, driving them and just looking at them in the garage. (I know I have the sickness bad) Look at most hobbies take bowling for instance once the game is...

    . Headlights

Had the OEM switch in our 68 fastback and drove 38,000 mile never flashed once. My son's 67 started flashing so we replaced it with a auto parts store unit and it never flashed again. IMHO I think corroded terminals and bad connections causing higher resistance can also cause breaker frailer. I...

    1968 All original GTCS

Yes that was pretty sloppy workmanship. A lot of parts like the shock tower braces were dipped not sprayed and that can lead to a different level of gloss. Marty

    . Headlights

I have used the halogens in many cars with no problems as long as it has a healthy headlight switch.

    1968 289 vs. 302 block

I am not certain of you goals for the car but if to wish to keep it as it was a late C code with a 302 block you will need to use 289 head and dress it as a C code 289. A lot of the parts, brackets interchange between the 289 and the 302 but the crank drive pulleys are different. Since it is not...

    1968 All original GTCS

It is hard to tell by the pictures but it looks like the black was thin and time and cleaning has removed it in places. Often cleaning will change the finish of the paint. No restorations are not like that, semi gloss black was used through out the engine bay. Marty

NPD has some nice Scott Drake reproductions that are halogen. Marty

    1968 C code radiator install

68 C code used the bolt in 20 inch radiator unless it had factory AC or was ordered with heavy duty cooling 24 inch saddle mount type. In both of those cases a shroud would have been added as well. Marty

    1968 Interior Parts Dimensions

They are the same as a Mustang but the mount that bolts to the seat is different. If you had the mounts I know some one that needs them. Marty

    1968 Coil clamp

The coil location for all 68 289-302s was on top of the intake behind the Tstat housing. The only exception to that is the 68 GT 350 that got the aluminum intake. In that case it was moved under the dipstick bolt. The 68 coil bracket is unique because one corner is cut at a angle to provide...
