    GT/CS on History's Full Throttle

My Tivo is set up through my Direct TV. I don't pay for it. Now HDTV is a different story. I pay through the roof every month for that!

    GT/CS on History's Full Throttle

I finally saw the new Mustang commercial (haven't been watching TV much) with the old Mustangs on the drive in movie screen in the background. Had to save that one on the Tivo since they show the back end of a CS. Very cool!!

Brought home a throphy from the Fun Ford Weekend show

Congrats! It's a great feeling. We brought home a trophy as well. Our CS took a 1st. place Best Of Show trophy yesterday at the NMRA Nationals at Martin Dragway. There were a lot of awesome Mustangs there new and old. It still surprises me how many "Mustang" guys have never seen or even heard...

    Basecoat / Clearcoat

Excellent advice. I once hand blocked a customers 70 Cyclone with 3000 grit on popsickle sticks. It took me 30 hours. My fingers bled and were sore for days. And they say painting a car is easy! HA!

    MCA show

Paul, I was once told that all San Jose cars came without the "CAUTION FAN" decal on the shroud. Can you verify? Nick

    Basecoat / Clearcoat

Murf, The thing to keep in mind here is BASF,Dupont,Sikkens, and PPG are all excellent products. It all depends on what your painter prefers and uses. It's not so much the brand you use, but how well you prepare your car for the paint process. Russ said it all. A good paint job is...

    Basecoat / Clearcoat

PPG is indeed a good product. We use PPG and Sikkens here at the shop. I was asking because a lot of my customers with classic cars and roadsters ask for premium paints instead of the body shop "standard" stuff. Also, you may take Steves advice and shoot the car with single stage instead of...

    Basecoat / Clearcoat

My price list here at the body shop shows as follows...... Color= $219.00 Clear= $239.00 1170 Reducer= $84.00 slow, medium, or fast. The price is the same. CRLV Hardner= $59.00 Hope that gives you a rough idea. Prices vary by region. Why are you considering PPG? Any special reason?

    Getting off old stripes

We use eraser wheels here at the shop. They are just a big round pencil eraser on a shaft that mounts to your drill motor. It pulls the stripe off in record time without burning through the clear coat. There are a few brands out on the market, but I recomend the 3M #06336.

    Base?

I was always led to believe that all San Jose cars came with round antenna bases from the factory no matter where they were installed. One of the keys to identifying a true GT/CS. Can anyone verify this?

Brought home a trophy with the CS in a show today ***pics added***

Congrats on the trophy. The CS is looking good. Looks like great minds think alike. I also used my sales brochure in my car show sign. It really attracts attention and answers all of the same questions people keep asking. Great job. Oh, and the Shelby looks ok too I guess!

    Fly Fishing

I love to fly fish Hook. I have an old bamboo Heddon fly rod that was my great grandfathers. It will be 90 years old next year and still works like a dream. I also have 2 large tackle boxes of flies made by my grandfather and great grandfather. They were made during the depression when you...

    GT/CS Clone Registry?

I vote for keeping the book Cloneless! (I just invented that word) The Header on this Homepage clearly states....." "Dedicated to the limited edition 68 GT/CS California Special and 66-68 High Country Special Mustangs". It DOES NOT state....." GT/CS, HCS, and other cool cars that might be made...

    Little Red's Sister Car

Thats a Mexican Shelby. My brother-in-laws best friend, who lives in Laredo Texas owns a 69. I had a chance to ride in it last time I was down there. Interesting car with an unusual history. He purchased it at auction back in 1985 from the local Federalies who seized it in a drug bust. His is...

Registry Question for my new book

I want to go on record as saying I like Casey's idea. Lets make it as easy and convenient for Paul as we can since this is going to be a huge undertaking for him. I would have no problem doing any of the leg work to prove my cars authenticity.(i.e. mailing or e mailing my documentation) And...

    California Special convertible

That car has been around for quite a long time if it's the same one I am thinking of. I seem to recall a dealer in Florida trying to sell it as authentic a few years ago. It was the subject of a long post on this site way back when. Some of the oldsters on here should remember. Shoot us a...

    Polishing New Paint

We use only 3M products here at the body shop. My best advice (assuming you have never done this before) is to have a professional examine your finish to prescribe the best sandpaper and rubbing compound for the job. Every paint job and clearcoat finish comes out different and needs the right...

    Registry - Paul

Paul, Will you be needing copies of our Marti reports to varify authenticity as well? In our last conversation, you planned on flagging all (Marti) authentic cars in the new book. Is this still your intention? I hope so because I think it's a great idea. Advise please. Nicholas
