    1968 don't MESS with Renee!....

...Oh, but just think of the trips to Canada & back if they had S-codes in the '20's! I wonder how they would've performed on the "molasses" of the day... ;-)

1968 Black 428 at Fabulous Fords

...Jon remarked on the other thread that it was an S-code 390 car. 'Still rare, but nowhere near the league of the true '68.5 R-code IMO... P.S. It's former owner posted on SAAC that it was an original X-code (390 2v).

1968 Ignition switch or starter solenoid

All good points! (assuming the points are still good)... Let us know what the outcome is Mike so we can refer to this thread (the next time) as well. And don't paint the top of those aftermarket solenoids black.... That is obviously a reinforced steel "hammer" pad!

1968 Ignition switch or starter solenoid

...Mike, my guess would be the switch. When the solenoid sticks - the starter keeps cranking, but the engine won't run unless the key is on. I've had both situations happen and had to cycle the key a time or two to shut it off. You might carry an extra coil around for awhile too as it may...

    . Fabulous Fords!

Jon, Thanks for the fantastic photos. Neat - a 428 CS from an S-code! 'Came real close to doing that myself with the red car. Looks like it was a great show!

    1968 don't MESS with Renee!....

Thank you Doug! PM sent :-) ...In the meantime, last weekend's car show and more rain this week means no real update on the 390. I have started and run it a few more times and it does seem to be getting quieter. I'm going to install a real oil pressure gauge before button-up and driving this...

    1968 Destination Downtown...

...Indeed Arlie. What ever it takes. The guy who hit the car graciously said the same thing... "Get it done right". Renee, I've been thinkin' maybe we shouldn't travel in groups any more. In a way that sexy blonds have caused guys to plow into phone poles - the black GT/CS (you were riding...

    1968 Destination Downtown...

Scott, Yes. We had a very nice conversation with him and his buddy who was an "old airplane" engine mechanic from way back... Nice guys and an awesome Cougar! They were on the main drag just ahead of the red S-code fastback. 'Wish I got a picture for you! Indeed, Renee's damage looks to be...

    1968 Destination Downtown...

..At show's end, we cruised home. re-grouped then cruised to Colfax along scenic Hwy. 174 for dinner at our favorite "greasy spoon". Renee rode with me in the black CS while TJ followed, driving her gold coupe... But arrival in Colfax was not without incident. As our group of 5 'Stangs...

There were many Mustangs present this year including an S-code fastback with Tri-Power intake set up and another with a 460 stroked to 530!..

    1968 Destination Downtown...

...A banner day in Grass Valley! We departed at 7:30 AM and held flawless formation of ten Mustangs to town (4-GT/CS, 1-CS clone, 2-Machs, 2-'68 coupes, 1-"66 coupe) and joined 352 beautiful cars in like weather, food and fun. Mike Jewell "somethingspecial" visited briefly after work and...

    1968 don't MESS with Renee!....

...Not a huge noise at all Rob. Just noticeable. I will start it again this afternoon, run it for a bit, do a final check then drive it up & down the driveway a time or two to see how it behaves.
