Knight Rider GT500KR at Knotts '68 hood pins

I took a couple of pics of the Knight Rider GT500KR Mustang at Knott's on Sunday. Guess what kind of hood pins are on it? Yep, same ones as the '68 California Special. How cool is that? They should have put those on the new gen CSs, too!! Hope you can see it in the pic.

Marchal 653 one wire Fog Lights?

All, I picked up a set of Marchal 653's awhile back. They have one wire each exiting the base...no connector on the end. I assume (but will verify) that the Marchal is internally grounded to the case. My current Lucas setup has two wires (and a nice mating connector). The wiring harness on...

Correct California plate number range for '68s

Hey all, Does anyone know what the correct Black and Gold California plate letter/number range is for 1968? I do know that "XCJ nnn" is in the correct range. My Dad's Lime Gold CS back in the early 70's had this as the original plate. Thanks, Jeff

How many have (or will have) old and new CS?

Let me first say that I'm not at all trying to instigate anything here. I'm just curious and passionate about these cars (old and new) and wondered how many of you one day would want a new gen CS next to the old. For me, pretty soon after the new CSs became available, I knew I had to have one...

    Aftermarket AC project questions

Hi all, I am revisiting the idea of installing aftermarket air conditioning in the '68 CS. Has anyone done this themselves? Anything unusual in the installation that I would need to be aware of? The only part of this project that I likely wouldn't tackle is the R-134a charging part. Also...

Question about Lucas Light Mounting Location

I noticed while installing a new radiator on the '68 CS... The mounting location for my Lucas lights (on the bottom grille piece) are not aligned with the center line of the marchal mounts in the grille. Mine are maybe 1/2" out toward the headlights on each side. In other words, if you put a...

GAS and Knott's cruise down from NorCal/points further north?

Hey all, When are folks heading down to LA for the GAS/Knott's festivities? I wouldn't mind caravanning down with others from up here if the timing works out. It would make for a more interesting drive down. I'm planning to leave town and be on I-5 outside of Tracy by 5:30am the morning of...

Help with Lower Radiator mounts for 24" radiator

Hi all, I'm in the process of putting the larger 24" radiator in the '68 CS. The original was a 20" bolt in. The 24" is a clamp in type. My question is- On the lower mounts, the brackets bolt to the angled part of the frame on each side. There is an existing holes on the frame on each side...

'07-'08 GT Front LIcense Plate Bracket?

Hi all, I'm looking for a couple of front license plate brackets for two other '07 GTs that are in the family (injection molded plastic type...like what I think came with my '07 CS). Googling on this subject doesn't get what I want...there is a fabricated metal type on ebay, but that's not...

    AOD Conversion and P-R-N-D-2-1?

Hi all, I'm starting to think again about an AOD conversion on the CS. I stopped at my local transmission shop and talked with the owner about it. Something he brought up was what to do with P-R-N-D-2-1. Do they make a P-R-N-D-3-2-1 insert for the '68 console? For those who have already...

CS Vanity Plates...What do you have/want?

Just for fun. I thought it would be interesting to see what people have (or want) for vanity plates on their Cal Specials. My '68 has SPSHLGT (meaning= Special GT) Also, I saw a newer 'vette with a plate that said SUITTTE. And the frame said "What does mine say?" (In reference to the movie...

    rarest CS of them all?

Hi all, I've had a couple of days to reflect on this past weekend's CS BBQ and couldn't help thinking about (among other things)... What is the rarest CS/HCS that there ever was? Maybe one of those elusive 14 originals? I can say that Bob Teets' 428 CJ HCS was probably the rarest CS/HCS...
