Hey Don,

You may already know this, but the C8-"M" means that it's a Merc block. The C8-"A" means that it's a big car Ford block. Since the Cougars and Mustangs were on the same line at the San Jose plant, they may have mixed blocks here and there.

Some of the 390/428 FE books give conflicting info about the casting numbers. There are some websites that may help, such as:

http://www.mustangandfords.com/techarticles/15999/

http://groups.msn.com/TheFordFEGarage/fepartsandproductssuppliers.msnw

...and just do a Google search for "Ford 390 FE", and see what comes up.

I've got a 68 HCS 6cyl. w/ an AM and head rests as the only options 44k unrestored. Since I got it in April I've had two offers of $15000 for it, it was tempting but after talking to Bob T. and him asking me if I could replace it for $15000 I decided... naa I'll keep it.
Thanks Bob
