Just replaced all the rear bulbs on my car. When I apply the brakes, the middle bulb on the left bank of lights goes out and the other two bulbs get brighter...???

First, take one of the good bulbs and swap it with the "bad" one to be sure its not the simple solution. (spent a lot of time chasing a "wiring problem" that was a bad bulb out-of-the-box a while ago!)

If its not the bulb, check the socket and bulb contacts. And for any fraying or a broken wire on the feed side to the bad bulb (bad source, bad ground).

I had one doing a similar thing... a clean up of all the connections "cured" it...

.. or you can rewire the car and apply LED's....

I would suspect a poor contact: either the bulb socket to the housing (poor Ground), or the soldered tips of the bulb/socket connection.
The light assembly worked OK before changing the bulbs??

Neil,
I can only assume all was well prior to light swap since i don't spend any time following my own car. It passed out of Province inspection so I can only assume it worked prior??
I swapped out the 1157's that were on car for the 2357's and I don't don't how much of a difference they make? My biggest concern is daytime travel...not night. I'll recheck and maybe sand contact points on bulb in question and socket end as well....

My primary concern/suspicion is the continuity between the tail light housing and the socket. They are only a crimped connection and if the socket isn't making a good connection, there is no Ground for the bulb.
Do you have an ohm meter? Verify that each socket shell reads 0 ohms to Ground.
