Hello, I just ordered some Manganese Phosphate powder to do the hinges and wondering if there are other smaller parts that could be dipped at the same time. The instructions I found says to mix with water and bring to boiling temperature. I figured since the solution would be useless afterwards I should try and take advantage of dipping as many small parts as possible.

Is there a reference guide or cheat sheet out there that show the correct finish? Would it covered in Paul's book?

Thanks

I believe the MCA judging rules would be the best place to find that info. Marty is a good source for that info.

A shortcoming of the MCA docs. There is no clear standard in printed form (I have seen) that lists specific parts, only the somewhat general judging outlines.

Items I can think of off hand:

- accelerator bellcrank
- coil mounting bracket ( a few approved finishes, S2, SGB, or natural steel)
- hood latch and hinges
- wheel studs
- transmission linkage

Many bolts are S2, wheel cylinder mounting bolts, many engine accessory mounting bolts, UCA/LCA bolts (think nuts were dyed red), front leaf bolts, most of the splash shield screws, trans cross member mounting bolts, and probably a lot more I am forgetting...

I phosphate a lot of bare steel parts as some protection too.

Thanks!! It's a great start.

Neil, I thought I had seen some links to MCA judging guidelines here before but can't seem to find it. I am not going for concours but if it's something that's easy to get to then I would consider plating it.
