I'm heading up our local (Bend, Oregon) Veterans Day parade November 11th for Deschutes County Mustangs. I'd love to have a bunch of Cal Special family show up to honor the vets with a car named after the P-51!

Anyone up for a beatiful road trip to Central Oregon? Honestly, the weather can be dicey that time of year- but it has been wonderful so far! :)

I can help arrange overnight accomodations and I'd love to host a BBQ at the house for everyone that came down.

Let me know what you think!

That would be a work day for me. Gonna have to bow out this time.
I was just over there a couple of weeks ago for the Redmond swap meet.

I am off this day, Tim. It'd have to be my 08 CS of course, cuz ya know how the other one is...
I will look to see if 1. I can afford it after SEMA and 2. How far away the destination is.

I'm also thinking about making the trip down - per mapquest it's a 5-6 hour trip for me. How many car will be allowed in the parade. Usually there is a limit as to how many vehicles are allowed.

Thanks for the invite.

Wow!

Great response you guys! I will have the particulars tonight after my meeting, but I am thinking there will be around 20 Mustangs for the parade. With 5 or 6 cal specials, we could have a pretty good representation!
I am not to shabby at the BBQ- could be a pretty good time for all!
Redmond is about 300 miles from Seattle- about a 5 1/2 hour drive if all goes perfectly over Mt. Hood. About 7 from Sacramento. I won't kid you guys- weather can change rapidly this time of year, so be prepared if you come- check the ODOT Trip check for road conditions at
http://www.tripcheck.com/Pages/RCmap.asp?curRegion=0&mainNav=RoadConditions
I'll post some more info after tonight's meeting

How about a cruise as well?

If the weather and everyone is up for it- There is a great drive through the Cascades to Mt. Bachelor (Century Drive) or up to Sisters and over McKenzie Pass. I'd be glad to trail boss and get you all back over to I-5 for your return trips. Fall colors can be spectacular on the McKenzie Pass. Might just get photos so good the calendar would be packed for fall for years....

Sounds really tempting Tim! I haven't been to Bend in quite a while. From what I recall, it is a beautiful drive around that area. Maybe Tim, Midnight Special, and I could make the trip if the weather isn't bad. Lord knows he has at least one or two cars that can make the drive!! I'll discuss it with him

Tim, name a good hotel around that area.

Do you have a good head count? Trying to get Bart to drive up 101 with me toward Seattle after SEMA in Vegas, and look! Bend is on the way home! We can even gather up Renee & Tim!

C'mon let's go!

Veterans Day parade in Bend

Hi Everyone-
Sorry, I had some computer difficulties-
To answer the questions:
1) There are about 10 local mustangs participating + whatever we enter, no cost for you to enter and we get as many as we want.
2) Bend has a plenty of accommodations- what's you price range?
3) The parade is on Thursday, November 11th forming up at 9 AM. I'll provide cross streets and a map
4)Weather info from weather.com and http://www.tripcheck.com/Pages/RCmap.asp?curRegion=0&mainNav=RoadConditions

AVERAGES
Hi 48°F
Lo 28°F

5)Still on for BBQ at my place and a cruise around the area?

Snow!

So, it has hit already, we had a couple of inches of snow- looks like it is going to be a HARD winter!
So it looks like travel will be hazardous for awhile, please don't put your car at jeopardy, but come if you wish!
I've attached registration forms- send them back to me at:
tim@pvpowered.com

Thanks for the effort!

Can we turn in the registration form the date of the Parade, or do you need them prior? I still plan on attending - have my hotel reservation (LaQuinta Inn) but if it does turn bad, I probably won't make the trip. I've driven in snow quite a bit and I have chains, but sometimes the weather is not condusive to making long trips. Again thanks for the invite.

Sounds like a blast. Growing up in the Medford area, I've been to Bend several times. Only once during the winter. I can't get the time off of work and I'm trying to make my vacation time last until next June. Thanks for the invite and post lots of pics.

Bill-

I'll go ahead and fill one out for you with the understanding the weather may be a factor. I need to give them a good idea of numbers this evening, but don't sweat it if you can't make it, we all totally understand regarding the weather here and our cars!

Vetern's Day Parade

Well I made it over the pass on Hwy 26 and stopped at Government Camp to take a photo at the Rest Stop there. The next photo was waiting with Tim for the Veteran's Day Parade to start. The weather was nice, but chilly. Sorry more GT/CS's couldn't make it. Maybe next time Tim has something going on more can make it.

That's awesome, you are one brave soul to take your CS through all that snow. We have snow here at home now and my CS is tucked away in the new shop.
