Are the zink colored bolts correct for a CS to have in its engine bay? I get conflicting opinions on where they are correct in the bay. Really like the look and put them everywhere in my straight 6 car. Rather stay as correct as I can with the cs though....what's correct guys? And what size washers are correct with bolts if so?

Ivy rED here.

Which "engine bay" bolts? Fenders were cad plated, on the engine itself it varies. Some are phosphate, some are zinc (silver and dichromate), some are painted...

bolts

Along the edge of fender where meets hood in closed position. And around the hood latch area and horns. And along the inside of the bay where seams meet, like next to the solenoid. All the same size. The highly optioned gold nugget colored car that was recently threaded has them all over its bay.

Fender bolts were Cadmuim plated in '68. AMK sells kits that are very close to original. Zinc would be incorrect, but look similar.

Shock tower covers are either Cadmium or painted SGB.

Engine "assembly" bolts are painted with the block (oil pan, valve covers, timing cover, a few more I am forgetting). Bolt ons like fuel pump, coil, horns, alternator or PS pump are some phosphate and oil some zinc, some bare steel. Engine ground wire are usually zinc dichromate (gold zinc). Solenoid and voltage regulator are gold or silver zinc (have seem both not sure which is correct)

So, as noted it varies, depending on which specific bolt. There were numerous finishes used and then some were painted over with the part/assembly making the original finish a bit moot...

The upper front shock mounts should be semi- gloss black, bolts that hold them are not painted. Top ones for the shocks would be cad the studs at the bottom would be dark heat treated

Your upper shock mounts look finished like a Dearborn or NJ built car.
