1968 Tube nuts for trunk lid emblem

I’m looking for a little help with the original rear trunk lid, and mustang script emblem.
I popped the tube nuts that hold the emblem out, when I did all the body and paint. The big tube nut fits the hole in the trunk lid, but not the pin on the emblem. The holes in the trunk lid are about 5/32” inches size and the emblem pins are about 1/8”
Has anyone ran into this? Where did you find the correct size tub nuts, or how did you attach the emblem.

It’s not the hole in the trunk lid that are the problem, it’s the tube nuts won’t hold on the pins on the emblem.

Sometimes dipping the nibs into a little RTV works.

Original. This is an all original 68,000 mile car that’s sat in a garage from 1992 until I pulled it out in 2023.

I suspect that the tabs in them are broken. I would get some new ones.
