I just ordered my new 2007 Gt/CS. I ordered it in black. I have always had black cars but this will be my first Mustang. Undoubtably it will be the longest 6-8 weeks of my life as I wait for delivery. I'm not much into stripes and am looking for opinions on leaving the striping or having it removed. Waddya think? Also, does anyone know what color of striping it will come with when ordered in black, the salesman couldn't really tell me.

Welcome to the both of you! :)

How are we going to know for sure it's a CS if you don't have stripes? I like the lighter black idea. That way it can whisper instead of scream - but at least we'll know it's a CS...

You could go with silver stripes to replace the black ones that come with the car. IMO you should keep the GT/CS stripe since that's the only easily identifiable cue that it's a CS (to most people). www.bobwhitedecals.com has made some replacement stripes in other colors for some members.

All 07 GT/CS Mustangs come with black stripes. Here's a pic of my car. The stripes are very subtle.

Hey Obsidianspider, thanks for the pix. I actually like the look of the subtle black stripe. I just didn't want a white one, thought it would stand out too much. Hopefully mine will come with black...I'll leave it on. Also thanks to everyone to replied.

It's like when Henry Ford said about the Model T:
"Any color you want, as long as it's black". LOL.

The only GT/CS stripe (for 2007) is black. The reason they didn't go with other colors, is because the way the stripe "dissipates" towards the door edge, the only color that translates that graphic effect is black, on all colors--including black. Other color stripes would "lose" the effect, and it would look like you only have 1/2 a stripe.

We might see something different in stripes for '08, so, we'll see.

The satin black on gloss black combination is something I didn't expect others to like, but it's become almost like a cult-following. I can't think of a previous Ford striping like that--ever.

... well how about the black '03 - '04 mach 1's?? They also had black stripes on a black car combo ... prior to that, the closest thing would be a black jade '70 mach 1 (very dark green), even then in '70 the black mach 1 had white stripes ...

OH.

• Nothing gets past you guys....LOL!!

I haven't seen an '03/'04 Mach like that. Is it difficult to see that stripe? I can use this info for the book--to give a design history of why Ford did it for '07.

I'll also include stripe installation specs for the '07/'08's too.

BTW--the latest Motor Trend with the Shelby GT on the cover mentions the "California Special" fascia roots (finally!). They "forgot" to mention that when they did the article about the Hertz Shelby.

• "I'm still smarter than a fifth grader...." :p

I'd be curious to know what the owners of the '07 CS thought of this. It's just an additional bit of stripe on the side scoop..

It's one of those things where it either looks great--or really not.

I think that a solid stripe all the way down would have been better IMO to make it look more like the '68's. And it would have been nice if the could have put the GT/CS on the side scoop but it may have been too small for that. And having a contrasting colors for each different car color would have been better than one color stripe for all car colors.

I concur with the stripe over the scoop. I did some photoshop on my side stripes and extended them over the scoop (left the GT/CS where it is) and it looked pretty good. I'm kicking around changing my side stripe color and adding some racing stripes over the top. I might have to see what bobwhitedecals can do for me.

What would be interesting would to go with gold GT/CS side stripes, and then gold Le Mans (also known as "racing stripes") over the top.

That would make folks think you had a Hertz Shelby--then a double take to find that it's really a GT/CS.

After all, the Hertz Shelby and the Shelby GT use the same front and rear GT/CS fascias.

If I had a black CS, I'd definitely think about going with gold stripes. Since I've got a white one, I'm up in the air a bit on what color I'd change to. Silver looks pretty good on the Shelby GT, I've also been kicking around a dark red.

Not for me. I like the way the stripe fades out. Don't want it to stand out too much. One reason we went with the Redfire color. Also, hubby wouldn't let me get another black car. I like the way it looks on the black car too.

That black GT/CS in the pic above looks just like mine, except I have the hood scoop on mine. I love the black satin stripe on the side, but I wish I could get black satin stripes to match for racing stripes over the hood & trunk. And maybe something on the tail to match the 68 tail stripe.
