Even though I just bought this awesome 07 GT/CS with a Roushcharger, I'm still a hotrodder at heart, so I'm researching and planning some future modifications. So here is the first one so far. I got the car 2 weeks ago and love it, but it didn't sound right to me. Not enough "muscle". So I purchased a Ford Racing axle back exhaust (these are original equipment on the Shelby GTs and Shelby GT-H). I painted it flat black (except for the huge chrome tips, of course) and installed it today. It sounds great and I hear it just gets better as it "seasons" until about 500 miles.

So I guess I'll just have to go out and drive it to get those 500 miles on it.

Joe, I read about those being placed on the GT-H for the express purpose of duplicating mid-60's muscle. The reviews were excellent! You went to too much trouble tho... All you really needed was a good stereo system (you probably have) and a tape or CD of your favorite sounds.

Last August, Donna demonstrated her car sounding as a galloping horse, while I placed a CD in my '70 called "Round Sounds". It plays among other things; the start-up and run-up of a 2000 hp R2800 radial from a WWII Corsair.

With full- volume and bass - I scared the hell out of Frances one time when I pretended to start the car & turned on the CD instead ;-)
It's a hoot at stoplights & while cruising through town too.

P.S. Your exhaust looks great! 'Lucky score on that plate!!

Joe,

"IF" you want to be like a kid in a candy store....you can go to:

http://www.galpinautosports.com/

It's on Roscoe Blvd., just off the 405 in Van Nuys.

While you're there, ask for Steve Carpenter, and ask him to show you his customized 600hp Shelby GT-500 (in white) that they took to the Los Angeles Auto Show last month.

Tell him that I sent you...

They have everything for your '07. They can order anything you'd want, too.

What you'll love about your new pipes is cruising at 65 in third gear, with the sound reverberating off the sound wall or center divider, then hit fourth, and punch it!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAA.....waaaaaaaaa....

You'll hear the power curve just before the blower kicks in. What a blast!
Hmmm....I wonder how you'd do against David now on the strip???

Paul.
p.s. (not to be smarta-- but) check your throttle cables & linkage for any hangups.

Joe,
What a great tonic for getting you in the mood to bring your GT/CS back to better than before!! I would love to have a new one!!! The speed and power of the old ones with all the new comforts!!!

I have a feeling that the white GT/CS will emerge from all of this as a state of the art performance classic. No need to hurry!

Be careful with Davids's car!!! On the 1/4 he is hugely fast! Now on a twisty corner.... The new ones will kill the old ones!

Come on, Paul. You really think you're not? But it's OK. I've been known to take a jab or two in my life.

I didn't want that to come across as "obnoxious" as it probably read to you. I just wanted to eliminate the 1% chance of fate striking twice. Meant only in a considerate way, not teasing.

Me? a smarta--? Whaa? Nah....hmmm... it's THAT obvious, huh? LOL!

(I can just see it...Broadway Blue posting a poll thread asking that....geezz!!)

I always thought that "my reputation preceeded myself". Yep, uh huh....

LOL.

Paul de Smarta--.

p.s. Joe--get over to Galpin (GAS) when you get the chance....they'll ooh-ahh your GT/CS,...and get one of those camo Pimp My Ride hats!

On another note....Hey, Joe....

I was wondering if you could tell us what your impression of the new GT/CS was when they first came out (if you accepted them or not), AND... what you think about them now?

Since you're a Southern Californian, and you've emplified the GT/CS experience in your white one (version 1) with your mods and driving it around L.A. for years...are you feeling the same experience in the new one (version 2)?

We had that long thread about the differences with the new and original GT/CS--and I was wondering if you could say something about owning both.

(anyone else that owns one of each is invited to chime in, too).

I ask this, because it looks like you got a huge dose of (GT/CS) Mustang Fever lately....(will you need an ambulance? paging Nurse Donna.. "wee-wuu wee-wuu...")

thanks--Paul.

I definitely have plans for the 68 if I can get the insurance company to come down to earth with the salvage value of the car.

I also have plans for the 07, both speed and handling. Not too crazy. But I would like to get on the track someday with David and give him a run for his money. But I need to figure out all these damn warranty issues. I'd hate to void the warranty, so that might just delay my plans for speed.

I liked the look from the beginning, although in my opinion it didn't quite do enough to differentiate it from the regular GT. I think the rear spoiler and hood scoop on my car are a big step in the right direction. Also, I love the two-tone interior. That also is a unique feature to the GT/CS.

I must say that I love driving the 07, but it's a completely different experience than the 68. Where the 07 is definitely a high-performance car, the experience is more refined. The 68 is much more visceral. The 68 was also a much more powerful car. But testing that power on the 68 was a much more "on-the-edge" experience. I wouldn't dream of driving the 68 at sustained speeds that I wouldn't think twice about in the 07 (in the right venue, of course  ). But for pure "thumbs up" impact, the 68 wins hands down. The 07 doesn't get nearly the attention (on the street) that the 68 got. That may be different at shows, but I haven't experienced that yet.

But it all comes down to this (for me). I can't wait to get my 68 back up and running because I'd like to have a choice, depending on the mood I'm in. I love both cars for different reasons, but they share a couple of damn good reasons. They both have the GT/CS name and they both are great platforms for my hotrodding heart!!!

P.S. Paul, I didn't think your comment was obnoxious at all. I have a pretty good sense of humor about these kinds of things.
