While checking out the inoperative turn signals & emergency flasher on my C/S, I discovered two unconnected wires coming from the Turn Signal Switch. One is Yellow w/Blk stripe (#460) and Brown (#482). I THINK the Brown wire is for the horns, but I can't seem to locate the circuit for the Yellow/Black stripe wire. Both wires were taped off in the wiring harness running down the steering column. (Ref: Shop Manual Wiring Diagram page 19-27)
Inop Turn Signals: Power/fuses OK, new Flashers, Bulbs/sockets OK. New Scott Drake T/S switch ordered, but curious about the 2 unconnected wires. Any ideas?

Neil,
That is normal for a replacement switch. You do not need them that is not the problem. Those wires I belive were used on Cougars. Scott B. will know.

I seem to recall extra wires when I put in my switch as well. I think they're for the tilt away feature.

Yes, it is common to have extra wires on turn signal switches.

Shemar makes the best quality reproduction turn signal switches.

Yeah, I'm just curious as to the application of these 2 wires since they're referenced on the schematic, but no clue as to what they would be used for.

Cruise control?

Not for 1967-69 Mustang or Cougar (and a bunch of other F-M-L up to 1971), that would only have a pair of wires that ran separately down from the turn signal stalk.

I think that these extra wires are from service replacement turn signal switches, that have more than one application. Maybe later cruise control that is controled from the horn pad, like on mid 1970's.
